Love does not dry up and blow away
It creeps in silence and surrounds

It tests your mettle
It stirs your soul
But never lets you

To be human is to be kind

When your guard is down.
A fleeting glance
Or half a smile

With alluring style;
You know that you must

Love is always there
But you cannot see it
Until you sense it and touch it

To love is to find

In spite of highly touted long marriages formed as teenagers "until death do us part," I find that most of us learn how to love better as we age.
All I know is that love came late to me and grows better with every day and everything that we reveal to one another, given freely without concern. So cool, this love.
"But never lets you gain control".........how true! Love is tarnished when control comes into play. You have written an honest and beautiful offering of what love is and should be.

I'm probably not the average seeker of love. Having suffered through 3 marriages because I didn't realize the first, the very first measure of whether infatuation might develop into love. Such is MUTUAL RESPECT. I also believe due to my past 14 years of relating to a partner that was love that didn't so much find me, as being a person, who along with me, firmly believed: we were in love with a state of love. Meaning, I am in a state of love with you, allowing a deep conviction allowing love to just be... not of objects, not of bodies for body's sake, not make-up and perfume (Even though in moderation, I'm not against that). Unfortunately, far too much lure is physical and sensual, often short on intellect or compassion for all that lives, including trees, flowers, et al. Thus as a couple, we stay in a state of love in all its manifestations. Very low maintenance contributes to such a philosophy, be one female or male. Not needing stuff beyond essentials to be comfortable as a measure of love is destined for disappointment, worst case scenario, the couch. Having left you with my calm rant, I did enjoy reading your thoughts. They are relevant. They are, in my world of love, a precursor to the next step.
