Thoughts of you come to me in waves
Whether I am standing, walking, or resting
They always lift me up
Soothe my cares
And raise my expectations.
Am I injecting these feelings
Into my own consciousness?
Are they jolts of nostalgia?
Unrequited love?
Perhaps.
But I prefer to think of them
As coming from you
In ripples of warmth
Enveloping me
Encapsulating my mind
Washing over my reverie
Reminding me
That love is what matters
And you are at the
Epicenter of
All that I am.
Very romantic. When I see a poem like this, I wonder if it is a peace offering for someone who feels neglected by thoughts of perhaps, the memory of someone else keeping current love from being the way it should be. Once in a while we have to sooth the minds of loved ones that we are thinking of them even if we don't express it often enough.
Once in a while I hear, "You never write a love poem for me."
These words remind me of a past lesson I learned from Ran Dass, that the purest love is without object, that the essence of love is "being" love, an environmental aura that knows not boundaries and seeks not an object. Even though, as sapient beings, we seek out people, objects, animals, et al to attach our love to, perhaps the moments we experience the greatest passion are those when we just allow love to be.
A beautiful love song in the form of a poem. We need more of this today and everyday. Thanks for posting this lovely poem stirring us into thought of our own experience of love.
