Warder, could you spare me, just a moment,
Would you write a letter to, my darling please?
Would you tell her, that I’m sorry, I must leave her,
But would you beg her, not to cry too much for me,
Say I’m sorry, for the heartache, that she’s feeling,
Say I’m sorry, for the tears that fill her eyes,
For all the lonely years, we must be parted,
Say sincerely, that I apologize,
But say, I don’t regret, what put me in here,
And I wouldn’t change, a single thing, I’ve done,
Say that when my life, is finally over,
Her name, will be the last word, on my tongue,
Warder, won’t you say, how much I love her,
And tell her that, she’s always, on my mind,
Say, that there’s so much, I would do different,
If I, could just turn back, the hands of time,
I’d have been there, when she walked to work that morning,
To protect her from, the man that stole her pride,
Say I’m sorry, that it took so long to find him,
But I’m glad, that it was at my hands, he died,
Ask her, to keep my picture, on the mantle,
To remind the kids of me, for they’re so young,
And say again, that when my life is over,
Her name, will be the last word, on my tongue,
But tell her, I don’t want her, to visit anymore,
I know it breaks her heart, each time she comes,
Remind her, that I love her, and I always will,
Her name will be, the last word, on my tongue.
