from a written Slam prompt-- "sleeping in"...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I have to go to work",
you whisper, groan and sigh.
I giggle in my sleep,
"Okay but it's Sunday,
silly sleepyhead..."
"I know", you tease,
lazily sweet, so I roll over,
and curl cozy catlike
to your chest, and you reach
for me and I smile.
"Now who is the sleepyhead?",
you ask, "Silly You!".
"Your toes are dancing, aren't they?",
I reply, still half asleep
"Oh, hush" you whisper
and I sigh.
last night we danced alone
together, here.
last night, I left my clothing
neatly piled on a chair.
last night, we somehow let our shyness
drop away and danced
so alone and so together
sheepishly, naked and slow.
now, again, we sweetly, shyly meet,
rolling over into sunlight,
alone, together,
we-- you,  me,
curled up catlike, both now.
and you whisper, "May I have this dance?"
and I stretch a bit and again I sigh,
"But, I'm not awake, are you?"
and you smile.
so we dance
a slow,  slow,
   soft jazz slow dance.
and oh, I smile
and wriggle my toes
in tune with yours
and sigh, "Sleepyhead, huh?"
"Shh..."
you reply,
touching your finger
to my lips and I slowly
open my eyes in this dream,
and taste the morning
on your mouth.
"mmm..."
