There is an adage that says "Follow the money." It is appropriate, although long overdue, for the Confederate flag to follow the Confederate money. Confederate money has been worthless since the end of the Civil war. The same should be true for the Confederfate flag.
      The Confederate flag is a representation of what the South embraced when the first shot was fired at Fort Sumter, South Carolina, starting the Civil War.
      It stands for white supremacy, slavery, lynching, segregation, discrimination, disfranchisement and every action that can be used to keep African Americans as close as possible to being enslaved.
      It is unfortunate that the North and the U.S. Government capitulated and acquiesced to the Southern ideology. When I enlisted in the military two years before the Korean War I was placed in  a segregated Army in New Jersey -- which is north of the Mason-Dixon Line and certainly not Alabama, where I was born and reared.
      In a way the Confederate flag indicates that the South did not lose the Civil War. When we observe the treatment of African Americans in the South this is true , at least in the past.
     It 's time for all Americans who believe in justice to demand removal of every vestige of the Confederate flag, especialy from public spaces and from automobile license plates.
   The Confederate flag should be put where only people who want to see it can access it, out of sight for everyone else.
         What a day of rejoicing there will be when the Confederate flag follows Confederate Money.
