moonlight revelation

Sometimes there is really is a monster under the willow tree

 
shadows morph as the wind
waves the still leafy branches
 of the streamside willow
in the moonlight
turning stumps into dark little trolls
with glowing eye and shining ax
in the wind generated shadows
that evergreens become
a nasty, nasty werebears
and nasty were bears
into evergreens and dark little
 trolls with glowing eyes
 and shinning axes
into dark little trolls
with great glowing eyes, and…
o, my…

The woods can be a scary place especially just after sunset when the stars and moon throw such ghastly shadows and the eyes and ears want to play tricks on the imaginative ones amongst us. Well done John.
