One upon a Christmastime, so many years ago
There was a little girl that wished for lots and lots of snow
She longed to build a snowman; the tallest one you’ve seen
Next to her Grandma’s kitchen, beside the evergreen
For days and days she waited, but the snowfall never came
The weather was quite balmy; the season not the same
Still, every day she waited; she yearned, she hoped and prayed
For a sprawling Christmas wonderland; she’d surely have it made
When the girl grew quite impatient, a tale her Grandma told
Proved in its pure simplicity to nevermore grow old
One Christmas Eve at noontime, the snow began to fall
The flakes fell straight from Heaven, reminding one and all
This earth holds special blessings that we can call our own
Since we are all God’s children and we never walk alone
How precious and how perfect, our days can truly be
When we pause to remember Our Father holds the key
The days passed oh, so quickly with busyness abound
The little girl moved forward with no snow on the ground
She had begun to realize her dream might not arrive
There might not be a snowman to bring Christmas alive
At midday on that Christmas Eve, a miracle appeared
Without a moment’s notice, the girl jumped up and cheered
The snow peppered from Heaven and—by nightfall—piled high
A wave of pristine beauty from the ground to the sky
The girl did build her snowman, the largest one you’ve seen
It stood so tall and proudly, beside the evergreen
And from that moment forward, through hardship, time and tears
The little girl-turned woman’s heart held this tale o’er the years
Whenever there is struggle; wherever there is loss
We must always remember that Our Lord is the boss
He’ll always lead us forward, where we are meant to go
For regardless of the reason, He’ll grant our Christmas “snow”
