Our Hearts Are Hurting for Boston

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem for everyone affected by the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy.

Poem Artwork

Our hearts are hurting for Boston
And all those whose race day reward
Became a passage to Heaven
To be Home again with the Lord
We pray too for everyone injured
All the lives now forevermore changed
Because of cowardice and terror
At the hand of the sick and deranged

Our hearts are hurting for Boston
as we try to make sense of it all
But, sense cannot be made from senseless
Whenever the innocent fall
In moments like this, we look inward
and pray for a Heavenly sign
To remind us that good still trumps evil
When evil mars the finish line

Our hearts are hurting for Boston
And those that finished their ‘race’
To dwell amid Heavenly angels
Forevermore shrouded in grace
Our teardrops fall heavy to pavement
Our minds understandably grieve
For all there in Beantown affected
By terror too hard to believe

Moving tribute to remind us that we are all affected by the senseless tragedies that befall any of us. My heart too hurts for Boston.
Thank you for this reminder, and continued success.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness
we feel about the loss. Our thoughts and prayers
to all affected.

Well said. As I stand back and look at the whole situation, I realized that anyone up to no good can easily kill a lot of people because we have the freedom to buy whatever means of destruction we want, build it, and place it where we want.

Until we can get into the minds of people and correct frustration, loneliness, and despair, we will be unable to control those who can't control themselves. Background checks will help, but we must begin to deal with all the mental illness out there that plagues us, whether it be suicide or homicide, it comes much too often for anyone.

Yours is a very fitting and artful poem that respects the fallen and gives support to the standing. You speak to and for a lot of us. Well done, Jill.

They will need our prayers for a very long time. Thank you for instilling them in us.
