The Heartfelt Gift

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem written as a reminder to put a positive spin on a difficult situation.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

The heart is but one special gift that must be shared with earth
A sense of good, of joy and peace, so pure and full of worth
Through kindness and compassion, always striving for a smile
From everyone we come to know, if only for awhile
And while a precious heart so rare can oftentimes be broken
Filled with regret when deeply scarred by pain, raw and unspoken
‘tis easy to go forth each day, knowing you’ve done your best
For through the pain, you’ll know somewhere, there is a life you’ve blessed
A wholesome heart, beating for good, goes forth in times of grief
For in the end, the warmth that flows offers the soul relief
Because a heart that emits light upon a darkened world
So easily displays its gift to all in love unfurled
