Poem Artwork

Elephant Boy.

Liquid eyes darker than starless night
Ghosts touch you even in arid winds,
In eternal crowds & deserts where herds
Trod the rubble plains. In city ruins

In your beaten beggar eyes helpless
Before the fated scene. The nothing that
Has not already been nor outlasts not
As spirit or beast, a heart made human.

To taste that kiss, a right to innocence
& near tenderness, to yield to
The decisiveness of birth & death,
As near eternity as less than a moment, lost.

Gift of Tongues

A deep and thought-provoking offering, Robin; deserving of much more than one reading. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and peace to you.

I believe there is meaning to our existence. I belive it is our quest as human beings to find that meaning regardles of how malformed we think our lives may be. There's purpose to our birth. Good piece of writing, Robin. It is multilayered so as to make one want to keep on reading.

Whoa, Robin, the beat of the heart of this piece beats the reader into malleable metal. At least, this reader.

"To taste that kiss, a right to innocence
& near tenderness, to yield to
The decisiveness of birth & death"

There is no 'program' that does not, in time, warp itself. Imagine the Planet of the Apes, imagine 'Dhalgren', imagine self mutated... into that which is deviant from the norm, in esoterical sense. It is not easy being human, it is harder being less, or more.
