Wondering

When I started my novel, I had to learn to write and converse as a man would and I found the task challenging. The poem, "Wondering",is my first foray into writing a love poem as a man would. I write often of young love because todays love isn't really innocent anymore. So, what do you think of my first attempt as writing as a man would, fondly remembering a young, innocent girl?

I touched a rose
Petal the other day
And it reminded
Me of you.

Soft, dewy lips
Of luscious pink
Flashed quickly
In my mind and...
I smiled.

I remember you
So well, my love
Young, trusting
and innocent.

Your lips reaching
Toward mine
In a slow,
Shy, hesitant way.

I remember your
Trust in me and
How hard it was
For me to hold back

My mind often 
Plays tricks on me;
That's when I start playing
The "wondering game" again.

I wonder where you are,
And who you are with now,
My precious young love,
Blossomed now to womanhood.

Forgive me Joy, I did not think aforehand, that you would be able to do it as that would be difficult for any woman to switch roles like that but you pulled it off with flying colors. Just beautiful work.

You have done a wonderful job of using a male's voice in writing this poem. It sounds exactly like something a man(looking back) would say.

Great, Joy. You have made a remarkable metamorphosis into a man's mind. Any girl would be very flattered by your description of her as resembling a beautiful rose. I wonder if he is still wondering or if he has found the Lady of his dreams "in full blossom"!

Yes, this sounds like a man; not young, but not old, reminiscing aboutan innocent young girl whose sweet memory still faintly lingers...like a sweet hint of lavender.

LOVE IT! Joy this was very good and so romantic in describing the young girl and who she is with now for the mind can play it's wondering game. It's the mind of a man that wonders about in such a way. Good going Joy. George
