I am tired of this empty love

which wretches at my heart.

I am tired of this loneliness

that sorrow keeps apart.



Nightly dreams torment me so

saying love is here,

but morning brings none of the things

that once I held so dear.



I am again for what its worth,

awakened with the day.

Only to breathe a mournful sigh,

with grief that’s here to stay.



I am not what I appear to be

a cold and hardened soul,

but merely a saddened one

lost without a goal.


I step aside and let dreams go

knowing they’ll not be mine.

For I cannot have what I want to have

even with the passage of time.



So I’ll let love go and the passion too

knowing all the while,

that this empty love has become my fate

And I'll embrace it with a smile.
