tomorrow always brings the unexplained

Friday, January 3, 2020

Poem Artwork

I wish tomorrow never came Tomorrow came, but I was not ready for the unexplained Nor will I ever be Pappy had just told me the night before,” Bob, tomorrow When you get home from school, and I come home from work We will go hunting” I loved to hunt with pappy, “Bob, don’t fidget so much, you’re spooking the squirrels” Nor could I stop Tomorrow came, but with it sudden and horrific change The doctors tried, as did the clergy, but all was a lie… The last time I saw pappy, he was being carried out on a stretcher The last time I talked with pappy, he said, “Bob, tomorrow we will go hunting” Now I see, As tomorrow’s go; they always bring with them the unexplained

At least you have your memories of Pappy and all the wisdom he shared with you dear poet. I have enjoyed your sentimental poem Bob.

We never know what tomorrow might bring. we don't even know what the next hour will bring. But whatever the future has in store, it's up to us to make the best of it and keep moving forward.

This one so reminds me of how my grandfather passed away in his sleep and never woke up the following day. It was devastating to those of us who are still living... like there is always this conversation that was not shared with them, and something that needs to be done with them still has not be done with them... The list just goes on every time we think about it. I totally understand how you feel.

The point of my poem today. Our greatest fears are generally wrong when it comes to what happens to us. Unexplained death, like what happened to your Pappy, are what we should fear but we don't, until it happens. Sudden death without explanation happens often in families. Perhaps one of the most difficult things in life to overcome.

By writing your poem you have expressed your long-held grief for how it felt that day when hunting didn't happen.

No one knows tomorrow but we all have somehow faith that everything will be alright. Sometimes it doesn’t work alright but we trust that God knows the best. It’s good to rest our plans in his loving hands. Happy new year Bob.
