I was inspired to write the Haiku poem, America 2018, to share the concern that so many of us are experiencing in the United States, and certainly other countries as well. I believe that Haiku's poetic format of simplicity, intensity, and directness is the perfect vehicle to drive my concerns home. Of the many poems I have written, this one seemed to take me the longest, which was a testament to my desire to express myself in the most succinct way I could." MWD

AMERICA 2018

This kind of simplicity can test you. I'll attest to that. I force myself to write in syllable formats when I don't feel inspired creatively. Always have. I love the challenge. For me it's like giving the creative motor a tune-up. I find the more you use the discipline of syllable formats, to streamline your thoughts, the easier the process flows. The biggest challenge then is not the syllables, it's choosing the perfectly colored words to paint the message as succinctly as possible. You have accomplished that here, Myra. Enjoyed. Peace... r
