 MEMORIES

By, Myra Wexler Darwish
In reverie, she sat outside on the old wooden bench,
Listening to the sounds of life around her;
The breeze rearranging her silver hair.

“Those glorious days,” she reminisced,
The children were young then, and the bench was new…
Full of toys, extra mittens, and snacks.

She strained, hoping to perhaps hear their voices once again,
The gentle sounds of laughter and play…
That filled her days and years.

She smiled knowing that
Her fondest memories could always be retrieved...
With a gentle breeze, and a rest on a worn wooden bench.

Places and landmarks can bring back memories of happy times. Nicely told in story form.
