Sunrise (A Sonnet)
As dawn’s first light illuminates the east
And wispy clouds begin to paint the sky
Orange, pink like peaches are such a feast
For a blink in time, birds begin to fly.
Oh, crimson blends to yellow then to green
This must be what early men would have seen.
To conjure heaven from such wondrous sights
Is not far-fetched when pondered carefully.
And as the morning sun climbs to great heights
I breathe in its splendor as air to me
Centuries come and go and always will
The glory of sunrise will always thrill.
Peach clouds floating in a blue-green, cream sky
Will forever cause men to gasp and sigh.
It is like seeing it in the mind. I truly feel that we must read out poems like this one to the blind so they can see it in their minds, and to top it all the sonnet form has come out well here too.I enjoy writing nature poems . regards, Roseline
