Higher Love

We are drenched in Love and it will wash us clean if we allow it.

Poem Artwork
Drove away
From the fruits of my labor
‘The American Dream’
Told the kids ‘If I stay I’ll die’
The younger cried
The older said he understood.
Drove to the sea.

Lived with strangers who were sad
Drugs and booze
After a year, forced to move
‘Where now?’ I asked
Love said:

Heed me well
The bills get paid
Find your home!
Now, I walk off the beach
To my ocean view
Lunch from The Lobby Gourmet.
They deliver.

Sat on my balcony
Dined ‘mid crashing waves
What a swell!
A ne’er do well
Tomorrow they’ll tell me to go to hell.

Thought I could afford two months -
Maybe three?
Entered a magic kingdom
A living poem
hand in hand
Did not know what held me so
Months became years before the call.

Looking back
I realize the beginning of a relationship
An introduction
The beginning of a new awareness
A higher love.

Training to loss
Dying to win
Found to never end
learning to ride the wind
Letting go!
No death to mar this sacred wind
Nothing has changed since then.

Our thoughts become things -- there, you found such beauty and peace and love, thinking you would stay if you could -- and the universe made it so. What a wonderful poem and story!
Namaste.

Oh Tom, did you really live within earshot of crashing waves, omigosh I am so jealous! I love being near the water, going fishing, and is it warm there? It is snowing sleeting and icy cold here, and I hae it. I want to sit on your balcony!

Having all the riches in the world does not make one happy. Too sad but true. I too would love an oceanside home, but finances make it not available. Only some dreams and readings of it can be had by me about that ocean life I'd like to lead.

Were not always aware of our journey, until we look back.

Pity that.

Wow, this is very thought-provoking about the self and the journey we are all on-very tight, well-written piece.

Amazing how and when we really learn to see and then absorb it all in to become a part of who we are, lovely writing...

Be always safe,
Karen

Tom,
for me this is a personal epiphany, a rejection of your old order and acceptance, and the search for a higher consciousness which this poem tells me you've found partially at least, partially I think is what's achievable, nirvana is elusive but never to be given up on.
I love where you take me with this.
