To experience the new hope of spring must be like the passion of love, the awakening of hope, the fires of awareness, the embrace of your true partner.
Your very breath
in my nostrils
promises the hope
of new spring
despite the ice-cold grip
of endless, numbing fortune,
the closeness of you
next to me,
like lying in the warm comfort
of the black, fallow fields
steaming before
the day-lengthened sun,
and at night,
the heat encasing,
the high yellow-orange
flames cascading
down the hillsides
to prepare for grazing,
pausing before
the new bloom of plum thickets,
the yellow-green smoke lit
with streaks of red-flaring coals,
breast against breast,
heart against heart,
sinking downward
to fundamental nature,
base of the conscious,
to sleep deeply,
in the sweet comfort,
consumed together,
melding in the coals
that will burn again.

I agree with Richard Orey's remark: "a dazzling marriage of nature and romance", which as you might imagine appeals to me enormously. I love your flow here, Jerry. Your words, images and feelings are very effective in evoking the reader's sensibilities. But mostly, I love this because it is a reflection of your heart and your deep understanding of the spirituality behind life and love.
A treat of everlasting life, in a song of love and spring, as usual Jerry, your use of language is as breathing in your surroundings, and out again for us. Bless You! Jasmin Horst

MMMM... Your poem is delicious! It is filled with solid images that hold your metaphor intact...while all the while suggesting we should be thinking about two images and not one.
Your poem offers some wonderful images that capture the glory of spring. Spring really is a beautiful time of year and your poetic heart shows it in this poem.
