I particularly liked your irreverent stanza four where you relate skin color to excrement color. ;-)
In 1776, a good number of the colonists were still loyal to England and constituted almost a majority of the population. The Loyalists often fought for the British in the long war of attrition where Britain finally gave up and the loyalists, for the most part, came over on the side of American democracy reluctantly, making sure there was a electoral college to ensure that the Senate, modeled after the House of Lords, still had power in the new American government.
