While I honor what the founding fathers did for us by writing the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, they were in a time of 18th-century thinking, some of which has been discounted by scientific study and therefore needs to be changed.
There is a clause in the Constitution that states that it can be, "altered or abolished." Nearly 250 years is a good test of our Constitution's durability, but some of the things in the Constitution, like the status of slaves as property and worth votes for the owners is completely out of place, yet remains a serious problem that a constitutional revision could stop.
Unfortunately, the red side of the political spectrum is blaming the truth as simply something they call "woke" and want to ban from public view so uncivil practices like the unfairness of the gerrymandered electoral college never gets changed.
Finally, after a quarter of the millennium, it is time to bring the U.S. Constitution into the 21st-century and the challenges we face today, not retaining our bad behavior from the past.
