Night’s shelter came to an end,
When penetration of morning light,
Pulled me from sleepy denial…
I reached for you,
Only to feel the coolness,
Of unruffled sheets.

Immediately…
Without hesitation,
Thoughts of you…alone,
Waking without me…
Beside you,
Emerge upon me,
Opening barren hole…
Wider.

I carry you in my heart,
Throughout the day…
Sharing every minute’s detail,
Of every task…
With you in spirit,
Imaging you…
There beside me…
Oh, how this alleviates,
Some of the pain…
Tricking my heart,
With mind games…
If only for a brief hiatus.

Blend in spirit,
With me once more…

Sense your presence,

Acknowledge not the distance…
Between us.

Spanning this illusion of distance…
