Your love is gentle...but tougher than me.
.............................................................

Cradle of Your Heart
…………………………………………………………………

Salvation rested in the
Palm of your hands…
Soft with love,
I refused to feel…
Questioning its integrity.

Do not feel responsible,
You are not to blame…
Hardened scars calloused
Upon my heart…
From those before you,
Blinded me.

Broken promises…
Volumes of untruths,
Had taken their toll…
While your love
With quintessential truth,
Gently stroked my heart…
Bringing back rhythm
Of beat…in spite
Of my denial.

Consistent and tenacious,
You held me…
Even when I could not feel
Your touch.

Gentle kisses stolen…
When distraction of misery
Surrounding my world
Held me hostage…
Unable to reciprocate
With gratitude and
Appreciation.

It’s now I see…
Through cloud of twenty-twenty
Hindsight…how you held me up…
When I was unable to take the
Next step…needed to reach
Survival.

Now…with clear view
Of mountaintops frothed
With depths of your love…
I am able to see,
The times you spoke
For me…
When my voice was weak
With fear.

Darkness had lain down
Upon my spirit…dense with
Blackness of deceit…
Cast my way by those
You protected me from.

You cleansed my soul
With your lace…
Rocked me in my sleep,
Cradling my heart upon
Your bosom…
Fed me with your spirit.

You’ve seen my faults…
And grown to love them,
All a part of me.
I owe my heart to you…
A possession you claimed,
Then returned to me.

Your turn to rest…
I’ll rise to the occasion,
It’s long overdue…relax
Let me catch my breath…
Before I hand you my love…

And all I am capable
Of giving.
