Overwhelming love and devotion, expressed deeply from the heart; a thouching poem I drafted for my wife at the time of our engagement.
I just don't know what I'm doing
anymore, since I met you.
All the things that used to define me
all seem to slip away.
When you sit here in my arms
my mind just drops its balance.
My thoughts, they drift away
and nothing's left but emotion.
But before,
I was only half the man
I needed to be this time.
And now,
you're all the woman
I need you to be
for all time.
So won't you stay
and be my only lover?
For the rest of my life,
I swear I'll be right there beside you.
and if it all comes crashing down
in the morning, or next year,
I swear I'll try
to make it all right.
Never will I ever want to lose you.
All I ever need is your little stare.
That blind love you place upon my shoulders,
it's almost more than I can bear.
But I couldn't stand to live a day without it.
this load of passion that flows through our bloodstreams.
The little things in life are all so meaningless
unless they come from you.
So won't you stay
and be my only lover?
I swear for the rest of my life,
and the rest of your life,
I know I'll be right there beside you.
And I know it won't come crashing down,
not tomorrow, next year, or beyond;
so long as you're right here with me.
I feel my life burn inside you.
Our wires are perfectly crossed.
And never can I dream
of ever feeling this
for another.
And when it all is said and done,
when we're old, we'll think of when we were young
knowing we had everything back then.
So we will not have lost out.
Not at all.
And when it's finally time
for the two of us to go,
beyond this life, boldly
where no one knows,
I hope we find ourselves once more
and can keep the memory
of life as it's been.
Such sweet words of comfort for your wife. I'd of liked them from my hubby Tom too, but he wasn't much for writing poetry. He did draw and talk lots of love and upheld me til his decease. I envy your having your wife still and thinking this way of her. She can be proud of you the rest of her life. So full of love for her it seems unreal.
I wrote this novel several years ago, I self published and never had it to sell. I have decided to rewrite it and hope to get it published within a few months for people to be able to buy. I had a few copies and gave them to a few family members and
