Peppermint Mountain

djbeaulieu

I climbed a mountain high and steep
and found nothingness at its peak.
I pitched my tent and built my fire
then sat back to contemplate the high wire.

As I sat there lonely and cold, I saw an angel, bold.

It did not shine nor do magic tricks, or mime –

just pointed downward to the mountains base.

I put out the fire, packed the tent and left without trace.

Once again I’ll climb that mountain high and steep,

pitch my tent and build a fire for keeps.

I will, again, climb that mountain high and steep

Only this time I’ll not hurry – I will creep.

It is so nice to be able to just sit back and languish in the moment. Good thing to remember as we hustle and bustle through life.
