The Love I Have for You

djbeaulieu 5/31/07

Here we stand on a threshold of our being,

yours and mine, together -- not separately.

That needs to come another time -- time past,

where a million souls have gone on and, yes, survived.

It is time for us to leave our separateness and our sorrows behind

Let’s not wait any longer, you and me, so that in our togetherness we can fly.

We need to be brave, you and I and help each other to again fly.

Yes, it is a fearful and unknown path we will journey,

but we have done it before, you and I.

We know what beauty there is in our togetherness.

And, that is what we must now hang on to, you and I.

Let us build a bridge over our new trail and

let our troubled waters pass beneath it to God’s wonderland.

Let our tenuous days become as happy as a joyous tear;

Let us, let go of our doubts, your jitters and my fears.

Let this be the first of our “troubled water”

to pass beneath the new bridge that passes over our new path.

Let this day become, for us, once again the symbol of birth

not only as of a mother giving  birth but also that of our rebirth.

Let it become a sweet, holy day of joy to celebrate again and again.

Let this day be a new beginning a beautiful joining of our holy worth.

Let our new path together be like a new snow path in winter,

as each day passes so do the footprints until they are gone and all is new.

Refreshed, for the beauty and glory of God’s springtime.

Together we are now ready for a new life parvenu.

And, we, like the blossoms of a flowering tree,

can now begin our new life and together let it blossom freely.

Yes, to be fed by our new covenant in the love God has given us

to have and to hold gently in our hearts and  in our souls.

So, please, my love let us not wait until it is too late.

Today I stretch out my hand in love to honor you.

I ask for your hand; an honest chance to be your lover,

your sanctifier, your protector, and your friend.

I ask you to give me permission to create this new journey

with you and I assure you I will become excellent in it!

On this day, once and for all, I do in the eyes of God

promise to you and Him that I will honor and cherish you

until death do us part.

It is absolutely in us and through us that we believe

so there will always be an us to you and me.
