Destruction at 30,000 feet

djbeaulieu 11/01/2006

They are the silent killers.

They lumber slowly across the ground, like the loon-booby.

One wonders if they will ever rise off the ground.

Their wings arch deeply as they leave.

Ah, but once airborne they become the masters of the air.

Their power is almost beyond reproach

and their capacity to destroy is awesome.

With a violent roar as they climb.

The noise is deafening, but it mutes

ever so slightly with every 500 feet they climb.

They become the silent killers of the Vietnam’s sky.

They are heavy because they are large – very large.

Still, they are the silent killers of the sky.

Thy carry a load of eggs that surprise

thousands of people day after day.

And, when the great bird lays its eggs

it is a strange sight, as they drop them

from 30,000 feet and Death becomes immanent!

Every see a desert or the creator’s of the moon?

Many a person wondered where God was when these eggs reigned

upon their heads –rain, baby rain-

from 30,000 feet  Death is immanent!!

My brother was in the Navy during the Viet Nam War. So, he was mostly on water. Very interesting article.

I remember the years of Viet Nam very well. My first husband was in the Air Force at the time and for each plane that took off the sound itself was deafening...

Be safe,
Karen
