Roses

By Robert T. Wood

Copyright © 2015 by Robert T. Wood

She wanted a rose plant one spring day

We bought three

At home she fluttered about the garden

Like a butterfly happy and free

Thrilled to be able to plant them her way

She prepared the soil

She took special care

Toiling with spacing and balance

So they would appear

Most natural in their own way

One sunny spring day

She came running in through the door

All excited and joyful

Her roses had bloomed she wanted to report

My wife’s happiness and pure joy made my day

There's nothing like blooming roses to make us happy… Except that is, the joy of our loved one.

You have beautifully captured how a simple thing can bring such happiness. It makes me feel happy.
