He is the breath on the wind,
Brushing through my hair.
He is the vision in my mind,
Turning my thoughts into air.
I don't know why I continue to rhyme,
But I guess I will continue as the clock ticks time.
It's nearly 12:30 and I can't get to sleep.
So I wander downstairs to have some coco,
But I think it was too late,
It just made my tummy ache.
I crawl back into bed,
Meanwhile he is sleeping with her by his head.
His blue eyes dancing in my mind.
My tears filling up these little lines.
And I think it might.. be okay.
It's nearly 1:30 and I can't get to sleep.
So I wander downstairs to have some coco,
But I think it was too late,
It just made my tummy ache.
It's been years now,
Today's the last day I have him by my side.
He leaves a note for me on the doorstep.
"Keep in touch" he signs the letter.
"I will" I whisper back into the night.
And it's nearly 2:30 and I can't get to sleep.
So I wander downstairs to have some coco,
But I think it was too late,
It just made my tummy ache.
I turn around to walk upstairs,
And there he is standing there.
I blink and walk up behind him,
He's not anymore.
I sigh and begin to sob,
The tears burning my face.
Leaving creases in my hot skin.
It's nearly 3:30 and I can't get to sleep.
So I went to grab some coco,
But I think it was too late,
It just made my tummy ache.
There's a knock on the door,
It's her.
"I think you left something,"
She says, handing me a paperback book.
I nod, slightly smile and slowly close the door.
And it's nearly 4:30 and I can't get to sleep.
I turn to page one,
But I think it's too late,
It just makes my tummy ache..

In "My Tummy Ache" you bring to the forefront how troublesome and emotionally disturbing love can be at times, not only when you're young but later, as well. Yet none of us would be here without it or would want it any other way for nothing is more satisifying and fulfilling to the soul than a dedicated and committed relationship. (But, of course, dear Kathryn, you know this well through the role model of your loving parents.)
Thank you for sharing a great expression of real life, something many of us have a tendency to forget.
