Resting against him we stood still to feel each others bounce and sway

My mind captured, body raptured by the overture of this cadence
Composed between beads of sweat and beating hearts
We became music, sensual, influential, essential
He lightly stroked G’s
Playing keys
Turning notes into melodies
Fingers sliding through
He knew what to do
We danced into a horizontal fusion
Creating an illusion that this song would last forever
Or at least until the octave changed
I became the rhythm that was rearranged
Not noticing we lost beat
The sheet of music was too discrete
So caught up in the sensual sounds
I never noticed when the duet became a solo
That was so low I did not realize our tempo slowed
While our dance remained the same
I opened my eyes to abrupt interruptions of percussions
Skipping beats so in sink that my instincts missed it
The rhythm that was once a harmonic melody of sensual sounds
Quickly became a confusing song with crashing notes, and inconsistent tones
We made our bodies rhyme, but could never synch minds
That’s why Rhythm Can't Keep Time!
