W H E N I W A S G O N E
~ David Clure C. 2023
A man lay wounded
on life's road.
And beaten, bleeding
'neath sin's load.
He had no where
to look but up;
had drunken Death's
dark, bitter cup.
Till hearing others
walking near, he
whispered to them,
Please come here.
They left him lonely,
passing by.
Ignored his need,
his silent cry...
Then came a stranger
seeing him.
Acted like neighbor--
like a long lost friend.
Then paid to heal this
lost, sick soul,
This Savior come
from Jericho.
[ We all are / were on that road - Jesus sees us ]
this is 2nd draft.
