I live within three miles of Old Sac and love to explore the nooks and crannies. You need to visit it mid-week instead of tourist weekends. There are some quaint bistros that aren't over priced but I will admit, some of the gourmet restaurants are sadly pricy but however, there is a food court just off Old Sac at the Plaza Mall.
Did you get to visit the train museum? Its a wonderful respite for an afternoon! Cool, lovely, and so much history!
I think if you came back when there aren't so many people or try and view it during the Memorial Day Jazz festival, I think you'd like our little 'tourist' trap...

I wish Gridley would have shown his sense of humor more with me when I had the pleasure of spending time with the Wisti clan, we might have gotten along better. I suggest that Grid goes to Petco right away when he recieves his card and goes on a shopping spree, but is there enough room on the back of the card for a paw print?
