This story is sad but too often, true. Maki is truly blessed to have wonderful understanding parents. Thank you for this story. It needs to be passed on again and again.

OMG, Marty--how familiar. Interesting,yet sad. This story could lead to an overwhelming walk down memory lane or better a family history lesson for a multitude of black families who migrated from the south. I don't see any humor coming from this...but I will await the final product. I also pray your grandfather preceded each of these wounded souls in death. Just my opinion...don't be offended.
