In reviewing the piece further, I wanted to dig deeper to see if you indeed extracted a level of understanding. I realized too, that the parameters you came up with ideally are the things people do to wrought hurt and malign souls, thus it may become unrepairable. I enjoyed it, and it was informative. I would place this is an article rather than a story. But you are right, people who inflict harm have often been harmed, themselves. It is not self-defense, more appropriate, but retaliation or revenge. Sometimes take it out on, not the oppressor, but on someone more easily accessed, weaker and strength of character. In other words, easier to bully.
When countries do it, they use their religion as a means of their abuse and dehumanize their adversaries by calling them names. When they go to war, except for the Geneva Convention, everything is game including killing civilians as potential threats.
What works, and what you have suggested, is gentle persuasion and taking abuse without retaliation of any kind. Forgiveness works. Nonviolent protest works; proven by Gandhi, MLK and others.

There are times when I'm convinced life seems to be filled with nothing but a series of tragedies followed by what we deem miracles, all of which leaves me wondering if the challenge of one is presented to see if I will recognize the miracle of the other.
But then writers like Cindy Tuttle posts her article titled "Experiencing God," and I realize that everything in life has a purpose and that God has a plan for each of us.
One thought I hold close is that the strength I gain in facing my challenges in life is meant to fortify and prepare me for my after-life work of being an Angel of Mercy for God.
We remember with deep sadness "That Day In History, September 11, 2001" even as God remembers all of our days in all of history.
Consider our blessings and walk with God.

Hendrix sure is one beautiful dog. And he knew where he would find comfort and love by hugging your leg. While I find all dogs to be very affectionate, wanting to be rubbed and scratched as well as hugged, some small dogs just aren't lapdogs. And demonstrate it.
I adopted a feisty little black Pomeranian from one of my students who came from Africa but broke up with his girlfriend could no longer keep Jazz. He bonded with me immediately. Since I kept it very warm in the house, when I was upstairs watching TV from the couch, he would lie on his stomach on the linoleum floor in the bathroom, but every couple of minutes would crawl out to the door opening and look to see if I was still there.
And then, when it got cooler, he did exactly like Hendrix and would jump up on the couch with me and hug my right leg until he got too hot and would have to go somewhere to cool off. Even though my partner fed him, Jazz spent most of his time under my wheelchair letting me know that I was the alpha dog in our pack.
I wrote the story of Jazz's tragic death here in this section. I have not replaced him. But if I did, I might consider a Papillon, because Pomeranians tend to be quite noisy and quick to anger to protect themselves from perceived danger.
All that aside, I found that a simple hug can remove all the pain I feel in my body in an instant. I seek hugs often from my partner and am honoring her on this Mother's Day for her mothering me as I revert to my childhood reluctantly. ;-)

You didn't mention the proliferation of guns in our society and the fascination with guns that fire rapidly many rounds. I grew up in a hunting family and hunted until I was 20, paralyzed in surgery and could no longer hunt. My twin brother and high school friends were given NRA courses for free teaching us gun safety and the proper laws for hunting to ensure safety and to ensure that a species would not be driven to extinction by hunting as had happened in the past.
I'm sure that social networking and the video game eye hand coordination skills that make these amateur soldiers so deadly play a factor in their decision, mentally wrong, to kill innocent people. Artificial fear has driven more and more people to buy guns for "protection." More and more, especially during these long periods of unemployment and lockdown, I'm hearing news reports of violence in families where a gun is available and is used in anger.
I hope there will come a day when mental illness will be a routine check in all schools and many professions like the police and military and those with growing mental illness and anger are counseled, monitored, and prevented from acquiring deadly weapons. For example, there has been an increase of road rage incidents. When the raging person does not have a pistol to use, they may use their car as a deadly weapon.

I look at our response to COVID-19 as a wake-up call for the need for providing the people with the truth and cooperation in overcoming some of our greatest problems, worldwide.
I look at is a good thing that you were required to become more tech savvy as a result of teaching remotely. There is a revolution going on in education that will probably eliminate individual teachers, in their bodies, teaching, when artificial intelligence probably do a much better job of meeting the individual needs of each student like a loving tutor taking a green talent to the skill of a genius.
Perspective is needed. While COVID-19 has been and can be very terrible for those it touches because they were careless or not, only a very small portion of the overall population will be affected before almost everyone is vaccinated.
While many possible side effects are always listed for every drug, most of them are very rare. And, it is fake information that "many" people die from vaccinations. It just isn't true, and when it does happen, it's a very rare occurrence that often can be handed off by doctors knowing what kind of allergies or immune response an individual has.
I'm in the category of having the worst happen, but I'm not mixing with other people and waiting my turn rather than clamoring to get the vaccine before those who need it more than I.

TV Review: ‘Black Lightning’, Produced by Salim &Mara Brock Akil (Article) - 1/21/2018 4:49:47 AM
Now that I have TV on demand, I must admit that I have become somewhat of a TV junkie, hurting my writing time, but totally entertaining me. I'm not fond of superheroes who always seem to be righting wrongs on a rather human level, yet have powers that seem to fail them when it comes right down to fighting evil foes. Actually becomes quite hokey and unrealistic.
That said, I'm interested in alternative viewpoints. I'm hooked on Queen Sugar and Empire, for example. But I have trouble because there are so many choices and I try to see a whole series rather than sample here or there. Based on your final review, I'll take a look at the first episode of Black Lightning. It would be probably the only superhero series that I will watch, if I do.
In the past I have followed Superman and Batman. I find Spider-Man to be totally ridiculous. Shows with multiple superheroes showing off their various talents also border on the ridiculous. Let's hope that Black Lightning can avoid that label.

HE IS SOON TO BE 33 AND IS STILL STRUGGLING WITH TURNING AWAY FROM THE 'STREET LIFE'. IT BREAKS MY HEART...HE WILL GO SO FAR BUT THEN, EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS AND CONCEDES THE NEGATIVITY OF IT, WILL FALL RIGHT BACK INTO A LIFESTYLE THAT ALWAYS LEADS TO INCARCERATION. AND THOUGH I'D LIKE TO, I CANNOT FAULT HIM ENTIRELY. WHEN A WAY OF LIFE IS INGRAINED FROM A PERSON'S YOUTH...IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO OVERCOME THE TEMPTATIONS OF RETURNING TO IT. ESPECIALLY IF IT'S 'HOME' TO THEM...THE PLACE WHERE THEY BONDED AND GREW UP WITH THE ONLY 'FRIENDS' THEY'VE KNOWN - EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THEM ARE DEAD OR SERVING LIFE. HE IS ACTUALLY 'ADDICTED' TO IT. SO HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? I WASN'T ALWAYS A CHRISTIAN, THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I WAS 'OUT THERE' AND I SEARCHED FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES WHILE MY CHILDREN...ESPECIALLY MY BABY-BOY...FENDED FOR THEMSELVES. I CALLED MYSELF TRYING BUT, AS A SINGLE PARENT, WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFLUENCING THEM TO CLING TO JESUS AND THE CROSS, I WAS TOO BUSY SEARCHING FOR MY OWN HAPPINESS. SO THEY, ESPECIALLY, MY BABY BOY, MADE THE STREETS GOD. HE WAS A PRACTICING ATHEIST AT ONE TIME BUT, WHEN GOD SAVED ME...I TURNED TO MY CHILDREN AND BY HIS MERCY AND GRACE, HE TOUCHED THEIR LIVES. MY THREE ELDEST CHILDREN ARE AMAZINGLY PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS(NEVER BEEN IN JAIL) AND NOW, THE YOUNGEST, WHICH FELL COMPLETELY THROUGH THE CRACKS, AT LEAST HE IS SINCERELY TRYING TO DO BETTER AND IS NOT AT 'PEACE' IN A LIFESTYLE THAT HE KNOWS CAN ONLY COMPLETELY DESTROY HIM. HE STILL HAS A LONG WAYS TO GO BUT I HAVE HOPE AND AM TRUSTING GOD THAT WHAT HE STARTED...HE IS MORE THAN ABLE TO COMPLETE. I PRAY THAT ONE DAY, FILLED WITH THE CONFIDENCE THAT MY SON HAS BEEN STABILIZED TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN 'LET GO'...I CAN. HOWEVER, PRESENTLY, I CANNOT. Hi Ron, thank you for your review. God often use doctors to help save life. I am glad , your doctor was savvy enough to remove the clots surgically. I am a woman of strong faith, I would not be here today, if it were not for God. The bilateral pulmonary embolism almost took me out, but by the grace of God with so many praying for me, I survived the ordeal. All credit goes to almighty god, glory be to his name forever and ever!

In December 2012, I was hospitalized with a blood clot in my left lung and pneumonia in my right. As I waited in the hospital bed, the blood clot naturally dissolved and did no harm. But the pneumonia in my right lung continued to spread and could not be drained. I declined every day toward death for 14 days before the doctors decided to act.
A surgeon opened my chest and physically removed what was on my right lung preventing me from breathing. Probably a fungus. I recovered very quickly without needing any oxygen in ICU and am now breathing normally eight years after.
At no point did I feel that I was in a "near death," situation. At no point did I call on some superior being to help me. My blood clot dissolved naturally, and my pneumonia was removed by the skill of a human being with knowledge of such things and the courage to cut me open to do it.

Nicole Weaver's latest contribution for review is nothing more than a latent cry to the Lord...and what a plaintive cry to be heard! When I read it, I realized how personal relative to me understanding her plea. was all about. I identified with it. I and undoubted you too, have been in situations where you needed to speak to God...where He can hear you. As I allowed the words to embrace me, I instantaneously empathized an affinity. Don't all of us want to be heard more on a spiritual tip than anything mortality would give us? Your answer should be an emphatic YES! If we are obedient adhering to thus sayeth the Lord principles He won't forsake, forget, nor allow faithfulness to elude good intent.
I enjoyed this short homily wishing it had more longevity in lieu of brevity...but no matter the length it soothed my soul. I say to you, Nicole continue to let the literary cadre heare more of what you have in your heart...you'd never know who benefits!

For far too many of us, the recent past has been a time of burden and uncertainty. But Hope for Humankind and faith in God are what sustain us in our darkest hours and give us the strength to endure and watch for tomorrow.
In every experience, there is a lesson to be learned, and every experience makes us stronger and more capable than before.
I am grateful for tomorrow and will live it as if were my only time.
Dear Nicole, thank you for sharing your many gifts with us all, and thank you for your visits to my den site and your loving and supportive comments.
