There seem to be fewer and fewer people in the pew.
We can only pray and tell them what blessings are ahead
Why don't they listen? For one day, we will all be dead!
Then, it will matter to every single soul under the stars.
We will all meet our Maker; we will all see His scars!
Then, they will want to repent and open their eyes.
But it will be too late,
for our souls will be departed when our bodies die.

Cindy I once thought this way. Condemning everyone I thought did not live up to biblical standards I was taught. then I learned the hard lesson that it is God's job to judge and my job to love. You don't have to agree with anyone's choices or lifestyle. You can call sin, sin, but you get no points for calling people "filthy, disgusting, wicked and sick. The people most despised and shunned by society were the ones often found in the company of Jesus, being taught, and yes, loved by him. Never once did I see in the scriptures where Christ called anyone the names you fling out so easily. The ones called vipers and hypocrites by Jesus, were the religious leaders who condemned him and everyone else. He told them the tax collectors and harlots would see God's kingdom before they would. God is love and Christians must never forget it. Sin is sin, yes and the sin of self righteousness is no less sin than transgendering. If you want to really make a difference in the world and let others see Christ, try doing it by manifesting his love, not acceptance of sin but love for those who sin. Hell and brimstone may produce fear but God wants us to be drawn to him by his love. A well written article though I must disagree with the language of hate.

In a way, I'm glad that transgender people are finally getting their say. I hardly knew about them until recently, when a troubled young man that I was supervising, like Bruce Jenner, became a woman. It is interesting that you use the Bible, a book written in very intolerant times, to reinforce your total intolerance of anything other than what that book says. As if you have no intelligence at all. Just prejudice based on what people thought was right or wrong in the years preceding 100 AD, a time when Romans considered Christians rebellious Jews and enjoyed watching them be brutally killed in the Coliseum. What you are suggesting is just as barbarous.
Consider this. All God's children should be born. Regardless of their ability to live in society. A certain portion of children born have both the genitalia of a man or a woman. This is not a learned behavior, but a common genetic mutation. Parents may love or they may reject children like this. And the children may be confused about what they are, male or female. In the end, they have to decide how they will live their life in a society that is intolerant of blending the sexes like you very much so are… Finding it much easier to bully and condemn rather than understand the facts of life.
I certainly hope that you, or your children, do not have a child with this dilemma. You will condemn that child to hell on earth for your intolerance.

There is absolutely no proof that these words written in the Bible to appease people afraid of death and their miserable lives, giving them some kind of hope, written 2000 years ago and then pulled together by committee, by men interested in controlling the masses, have any validity other than hope. The cult of religion.
I have lived a good life and accomplished all that I have wanted to and more. I feel that I could die at any time now with no adverse effect on anyone that I love. I certainly don't want to suffer a kind of "hell on earth," that many do when they are waiting to die with great pain and suffering every day.
I'm certainly not worried about any kind of suffering after I die. I just will be gone and my writing will either live on, or it will also die in the minds of readers.
The question that I have for you is… Long after you are gone, will this article of yours, compared to the millions of others exactly like it, make it worthwhile for you to have written it in the first place?

I'm not looking forward to any eternity, but I do see two types of people in society: people who work hard to build up and support society and people who want to use it for their own purposes and tend to tear it down. In other words, society builders and society wreckers. When it comes to judgment, I believe everyone knows what type of person they are without being externally judged.

In prison ministry many find this very hard to do. Well, all the apostles had a tough life, following Jesus may not be easy, but living life following Jesus Christ is well worth it. Amen

Wow Cindy! What a wonderful series of verses! Now, back in my teen years I was lost and confused because I thought the apostles were all perfect and without sin. I used to look at the statues in the Catholic church and think, "I could never match the perfection of these giants so why even try?" Little did I know the story behind Paul when he was Saul. The love and forgiveness that Christ showed all of us even extended to the most revered apostle that ever lived! So today I think, "If Christ forgave and loved Paul when he was Saul how much could Christ love and forgive me for my sins?" The truth be known, the love of our Lord Jesus is way beyond our comprehension because if we knew Saul today I doubt if there is a person alive that would completely forgive him and forget his transgressions. Our Lord is truly amazing! Thank you Cindy! Thank you Jesus! Amen!

Interesting how the use of she, rather than he. Breaking the norm, he being animate and she, inanimate. And why not, stretch those pathetic boundaries that mislead us. God is neither a he or she, it's the limitations of our language, unlike Hebrew.
Oh yeah, like a rudder on a ship, even the perceived smallest of helpful deeds can have far reaching impacts.
Always be gentle, forgiving, and compassionate with yourself, too.

I used to work in a nursing home and one of my patient's daughter would bring in her dog from time to time. It brought so much joy to the residents. Where their was frowns magically became smiles. I admire you Cindy, for using your therapy dog to do God's will. You are an angel on earth.

You certainly aren't hiding. You are proclaiming your Christianity with every word and making sure that everyone hears it and becomes Christian just like you. I'm sure it would be a wonderful world if everyone was Christian just like you and everyone loved everyone else according to the Scripture and the world was at peace, there was no crime, and everyone was prosperous. There would be no more suffering and need to pray for every problem that comes up that we can't explain. Everyone would go to heaven regardless of what happened to them because they believed. What a wonderful world that would be. No more hiding.

Well said, Cindy, because it's "not by works of righteousness that we have done" I love the song "Jesus Paid It All," which also explains so well in the chorus what Jesus did..."Jesus paid it all; All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain; He washed it white as snow."
I have heard it described as "transferring your trust from yourself to Jesus Christ."
I like that you end your poem with surrendering to serve--it's the natural response to receiving Christ as your own.

Dear Cindy,
I can identify with this poem especially since we tend to eat way too much because the abundance that is presented before us during the holidays. Is it a sin that our brothers and sisters go without while we literally pig out at out at our dining room tables? Yes, I know that we give to the poor and help others but the question remains, "Do we really feel good about all of this over indulgence? I have eight relatives coming over but they are well fed. The best Christmas I ever had was when we gave to others who were in need. Why can't every Thanksgiving and Christmas be celebrated like that? Perhaps we just do it (extend ourselves to the poor) for a season and then go back to our traditional ways because it's become a habit. But is this tradiional habit a good one? I tend to think not and my heart truly goes out to those less fortunate. Thank you again for your wonderful thought provoking poem. It brings to mind that not only are we all sinners but we sometimes sin repeatedly out of traditional habits that may not be the best way to celebrate life. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!
