Now I'm beginning to wonder if this is a true story or not? I think it was the ending, Because, before that, I thought it was a true story. Six heart attacks by 60 sounds like someone did some hard living that led up to an early demise.
Reminds me of the time last December while I was being much worse each day from pneumonia taking over my right lung more each day with no drainage. It took seven days before they decided to operate and save me from a certain death.

I hadn't thought of contagion on an elevator before… One more thing to worry about. Is this a true story? Is it really possible to calm people with this method or is it just a story?
I had a college speech teacher who was trapped in the old elevator in her classroom building. She claimed she would never ride an elevator again. I took my helper to have her face lasered for acne scars. After the procedure, with blood and pus coming out, her face looked like raw hamburger. The doctor gave her a paper napkin to hold over her head and face, but when we got on the elevator, all the people on the elevator looked at her in horror, wondering what had happened to her face. In two weeks, her face looked much better.

I really like the ending. I don't have any daughters, but my niece's husband confessed that when he first dated my niece when she was about 15 he feared my brother. Instead, my brother greeted him warmly and took him out in the garage to show him his cars. She married another man after college, divorced, and then remarried this lucky guy, her high school sweetheart. With her two daughters from her first marriage and their daughter, he tells me he has his hands full when guys come dating.
The story would be much better if you stated that you had experience prior to your seemingly spontaneous treatment of the horse. Somehow, you learn how to control a horse that way. It would be nice if you are experimenting to see if your idea would work rather than acting like you knew what you are doing and just showing off for the kids.
The story could also use some editing because of the way it is written changes in the middle. This could easily be done. Perhaps your daughter could edit the tale and improve it?
