Long story short… It took too long to get to the story! And, although the vernacular was quite good, I think some editing would make it more publishable.
We have green geckos that run very fast. Not always in a person's direction. My ex-wife found one in the house, got all upset and sprayed it with insect spray. The poor critter probably died from having that oily irritating substance on its skin a slow and painful death.
My current partner is deathly afraid of them on the garden walls. Both she and my wife don't seem to know that they eat a lot of harmful insects and wouldn't hurt a human, but probably would a flea.

I firmly believe that our dreams are our brains sorting and refiling certain experiences and visual images from our lives into some sort of order so that we can remember them in the future. For example, researchers have found that short-term memory is held in a different place than long-term. So, when we are in deep rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, our bodies require little of the brain and it can move short-term memory into more durable long-term memory. If, during this process, something awakens us, we experience a dream, or see what the brain's processing. In our minds, some of these dreams may seem to be very long, perhaps because, as we wake up we remember more of them.
Your dreams are the way they are because of your experiences and thinking. It's only natural that you would dream of Jesus, church, and heaven.

An interesting allegory of the hierarchical system that has evolved from tribal families where there was always a alpha leader, backed up by supporters and always members of the family who didn't want to or couldn't take care of themselves. This unequal status, translated to society, is the subject of your allegory. You illustrate how difficult it is to provide equality for everyone when prejudice towards the unfortunate if so ingrained in society.
The battle rages on for equality. Hopefully, someday, it will be achieved without someone crying, “Communism, Socialism…” Not realizing that dictatorships by the few are much worse.

You have some interesting ideas, characters and plot, but the length of the paragraph make it long winded and difficult to read. I read the story becoming enthralled trying to grasp in the storyline. In my opinion you need to work on your characters, the wording of the dialogues, flow of the plot. Please don't let this critical critique discourage you because with a little work and editing, you will have a good story.

Hi Edward: Thanks for your kind reveiew. Like many English words, 'Fear' is one of them that seems to have many meanings. Nonetheless, perhaps this should put your mind more at rest about what I've written above. Psalm 111:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom...."
Job 28:28 "And unto man He said, behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom...." This 'Fear' is not to be afraid of the Lord, but it's saying be mindful of the the Lord at all times. There are many more Scriptures to justify fear. Thanks again!!!!

The world is really getting better all the time. I agree that there are those that still seem to want to divide us with hatred, but that is actually decreasing worldwide.
The problem really is that the media is now so omnipresent and powerful that it is revealing, almost instantaneously, problems that have been there all along, but neglected because they had no stage to present their case. That has changed drastically in just the last few years.
Privacy, where all those secrets were nicely hidden, is now nearly extinct, making vivid revelations a daily occurrence in an unbelieving world.
Trust me… Things are better… Not worse.

A likely story (myth?). Now, a parrot-like bird certainly could have been a macaw or parakeet. And the myth that they fly south would certainly depend upon the location. Many birds fly south to avoid cold weather in the winter, while some stay. No myth. Just a fact. But birds of beautiful color are often captured in the tropics and taken to climates that are much colder. They don't have the option flying south to warmer weather.

Online has its good points and its bad. You certainly can find information on almost anything very easy. Literally obsoletes encyclopedias.
And education is in for a big surprise when bricks and mortar no longer matter. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the treasured schools of higher education become merely museums as learning turns to the likes of the Khan Academy and Ted Talks. Chalkboards are already obsolete.

To be in favour is the same as being in a low position of disgrace: the getting that favour (a promotion) is stressful and the losing it is stressful as well. On the other hand, it is also said that above all other cares people care of their personal hazard. They use to do it so seriously, as if they treat a severe disease. If I am a man who gets a disease, it is only because of my having the body; if I have not my body, what kind of disease can come then to me? The Leaves! (Poetry) - 9/24/2015 10:38:29 AM
In the wild forest, the leaves fall wherever they may and carpet the ground, softening the forest floor, sealing in moisture and protecting everything from the deep freeze of winter. Their deterioration over time helps restore fertility to the forest without the help of any other source.
As your poem suggests and the green lawn pundits require, leaves are to be raked up and placed into impervious plastic bags and carted off to the landfill. Thereby robbing the yard and grass of useful groundcover that is replaced by expensive mulch and nutrients that are replaced by expensive fertilizer. Likewise, the practice of scooping up grass clippings and carting them off as well.
In my 30 years of living in a suburban home, I have rarely raked leaves (simply mowed the lawn with them and directed the clippings and chopped up leaves into my flowerbeds for groundcover. No raking and bagging required. I have never used fertilizer on my lawn and it has always been as green as any other.

Aw, you said, "This time of the year is when the trees are preparing to let go of their leaves and of their beauty!" Personally I see beauty in a naked tree stripped of all its leaves, leaving only bare branches and limbs. It is beauty, merely a different kind of beauty. Sorta spoiled the poem for me.

Trees are remarkable in many ways. I have the most trees of anyone on my block and planted most of them myself. I regret that I may have to take down a huge sweet gum tree that I planted when it had only one leaf. It now towers over 60 feet and has so many leaves that it bothers my neighbors in the fall. Its roots have raised my walkway and driveway inches as they grow underneath.

As I've mentioned before people write for many purposes. Some write just to connect with their friends and the world. As those one-liners on the twitter and facebook, some old folks tweet daily to let others know they're still alive and kicking. People write for many reasons, some write to entertain themselves and others. Not everyone write for a living, because it does not pay much to begin with. I write leisurely for many years because I DO have a full-time job to go to everyday. However, when I really set my mind to publish my books, I feverishly worked non-stop painting, writing, formatting my pages for printing, put them into printing, paper-cutting, book-binding, selling... I've done all that work by myself at first. I worked 'til 4:30 a.m. every morning, slept for a couple of hours, woke up and went to my full-time job in the day. Each one of my work (books) is published with sweat, hardwork, and dedication; and if any one thinks that being a published author is by chance or the money made is by accident, they don't know the meaning of the hardwork that goes into each project. Later, I've discovered lulu.com and my books had become much easier projects. People can say whatever they like about others' work, but they cannot discredit the hardwork and dedication an author has put through so that there is a book for all to read. Just telling like it is. I certainly would not think of another author's work that when they sell it's by accident.

I'm trying to figure out what, "In Wants," is? But as I read your poem you describe wants that I don't have and never have had. Think you are describing a certain type of personality that is not me.
I am grateful for the possibility of fulfilling my needs with a little bit to spare to give to those less fortunate, but I don't see a need to follow Christ in order to do that.

Yes, most of all, children should be happy at Christmas time. The greatest gift we can give them is our own happiness and fellowship. Cash for gifts shouldn't be a concern. After all, many have made gifts from household scraps without spending a nickel in a store.

A very nice device used in your poem, unique and very creative.
If you want to get into Something, you must go to a woman. For I understand that men have a place they go, called Nothing. If you asked them what they're thinking, they will say, "nothing."
Probably the reason that men say that is because they are thinking of sex and do want to admit it. So any time some man says that they're "not thinking of anything." You can rest assured that their thinking of sex. ;-)
