What may have been a common occurrence, the infatuation of a patient for their doctor/mentor, turns out horribly. Like Eva, I'm trying to figure out what it was in the box? Her heart?
I guess that is the point. We are supposed to be left guessing.

A great story! Succinct and to the "heart" of matters. Can't imagine what piece of herself is in that box. At any rate, Susan thought the gesture was heartfelt.
