OMG Tink, you have been through so much. I really liked reading this and I could actually "see" everything while it was happening. And I agree with Sandra Mushi, that boys have shorter attention spans, because they go from one thing to another because they get easily bored. But one thing I have found they never get bored of, is picking on girls. I thought my childhood was something, but it is nothing compared to what you have endured at the hands of your brothers. Suffereing broken bones, torn ligaments, and a wounded psyche all because your brothers couldn't stop being evil to you.
This is another very good chapter, and has tons of vivid images. There is only one thing tho. There are a few spelling errors you might want to correct. Other than that, this is very well written. Thank you for sharing.

This sounds like the fun we had in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when I was growing up, and before the dark days came. Of course boys will always be boys and do wicked things to girls. I guess it's in their nature. But we are girls and we will not only endure what the boys dish out, but we can dish out some of our own "dirty" tricks too. LOL. This is well written, and full of images that bring this first draft to life. Thank you for sharing.

Tinka, I just now came across this post and feel so terrible for your loss. You are correct and I believe you may remember I once posted something many years ago here about the loss of my baby son so I know this pain firsthand. It changes you...and as much as you wish to make excuses of how things are alright they never are really and it takes a very long time just to come back to life in our attempt to survive such a loss. I see you are trying to be strong telling your daughter to be strong but you know how hard it really is even for you. It shakes you and takes you back to the day you suffered the loss new. Our only hope is to see our loved ones and our children in paradise someday. Love to you and yours,

Tinka, I'm so sorry; the pain must be utterly unbearable when you consider the toll of Octobers over the years - and now this latest tragedy. My love and prayers are so with you as you continue to grieve and I sincerely hope that somehow, somewhere, there will be the gift of fresh life, fresh hope and a form of redemption of a month that has become so hard. My own father died in June 1978 and I distinctly remember having a kind of "waking dream" in which, in my grief, I was casting about at the base of an ancient oak, trawling through dry leaves when a voice spoke to me and asked why I was searching through the roots instead of tending my gaze upwards, where his light and life were abundantly shining... The loss was softened by that encouragement, although the parting can be so hard. My your loved ones, old and young, be reunited beyond the veil. Bless you, darlin xx

I'm deeply sorry you've lost a grandchild, too... oh, Tinka, that must be utterly heartwrenching for your loving self..
I will be on my knees, too... praying to our LORD, for you and your family to be comforted and to know His peace.

The world in despair is a devastating feeling for all of us. The stress that we go through every day could be less and less if only we stopped trying to out best the other. Instead of crying let us be happy in the deeds we do for others. This piece tells of raw feelings of despair, but do we have to have those feelings? NO! WE DON'T! I have been saying this for as long as I can remember, that we need to live and let live, and be accepting of those individuals that are different than us. Let us not cry for the world will not cry with us, but laugh at us. Let us be happy so the world can be happy with us.

I can still hear the voices of my aunt Caroline and grandma Dolly. I can still see their smiles and smell grandma Dolly's cooking. I remember their loving care when I had double pneumonia.
