I always arose early and stayed up late while on vacation. But that was when I was young and traveled light. Now it takes much planning, a lot of garbage, and much rest before and while being there, to be able to enjoy.
I thought you were going to talk about the wind, the sun burn, the flies and mosquitoes, and dehydration that is sure to hit you if you stay on the beach too long.

This one so reminds me of one person I know from work whom everyone hates. Promotions are good to have, but one should never forget who had helped you to get there. If not, when you fall, it's going to be a long fall and no one will be there to catch you when you fall.

I had some dreams alright, but not when I was a teenager. I lived for the day, the hell with tomorrow. In my early adulthood, I had some dreams, which were dashed and torn asunder by the hell I was living. I'm old now, the only dream I have is will I awake for tomorrow

You have used the device of repetition here to good effect. I too have used some repetition when I think it might work or the theme warrants it. In your poem, the repetition, rather than being in any tedious, actually highlights more effectively the other points you are making. Interesting poem. I'm glad I tracked it down. John

That's the problem, people will not stop poking an drilling the world. They keep taking things out from underneath the earth's surface. There are now so many sinkholes and earthquakes because of the results from the human's greed. Sad, but true!

An interesting piece on the seagull, the rat of the sea (?). Most dogs seem to love them and could chase them for hours. I love how they like to catch junk food in midair. I don't like it when they catch a fishing lure in midair.
Jonathan Livingston Seagull, I heard, was quite a philosopher.
