Dear Tony,
I just read your paragraph, "Just the Start." I was written in Sept 2011. Well, how are you doing so far?
Several years ago, I wrote about my first wife who died of cancer. She lived three years knowing her life would be over soon. She was 37 years old when she died. I wrote a short story about her called, "A Slice of a Short Life." I held off for 20 years but I finally finished it. It was like giving birth to a baby (I can only imagine).
Then I posted it on the den. That story received more hits than anything I have ever written. More important, writing it helped to purge the hurt and pain I went through all those years. People are not always so kind and I expected more support from her relatives. They came by a little too late. Forgiveness was tough but I had to forgive in order to move on with my life.
So it's never too late to write your story Tony. That's what this Den is all about. We suppose to support one another. So just pick a time when you want and put a few lines on paper everyday. At the end of one year you will have a personal masterpiece. Then you can refine it and add to it a little spice like a making a good pizza. Put it into the oven (post a chapter on the den) and you will know when it's ready for the world to taste.
You can do it one day at a time. In the end you will be a better person for it and you will be able to go forward with your life.

Yes, Jesus is the one who knows. Having lost my brother three years ago, I can relate. I have to share with you a piece that was in my bulletin at church today- Leo Buscalgia was asked to judge a contest to find the most caring child. The winner was a 4 year old child whose next door neighbor had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap and just sat there. When his mother asked what he said to the neigghbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry." TONY, LET US TALK. AS YOU KNOW, POETS ARE GIFTED IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. MANY HAVE THE GIFT OF 'IMAGINATION'. THEY CAN SEE THEMSELVES IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS AND WRITE AS IF IT IS REALLY HAPPENING...THIS IS GOOD, BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN INSIGHT INTO MANY ACTUAL OCCURRENCES IN THIS LIFE AND THEIR POETRY HELPS OTHERS IN MANY WAYS. I DO NOT HAVE THIS GIFT. THE POETRY I AM INSPIRED TO WRITE IS MY LIFE...MY TESTIMONY AND IT IS BASED ON ACTUAL EXPERIENCES IN MY LIFE. SO WHAT AM I SAYING? I AM SAYING THAT I WOULD NOT TELL YOU THAT GOD IS A 'MIRACLE WORKER' AND THAT HE IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU THROUGH THE HARDEST OF TIMES, IF HE HAD NOT ALREADY DONE(AND IS STILL DOING)THIS FOR ME. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I AM TRULY 'BURDENED DOWN', MY FRIEND. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO TURN...BUT DURING THESE TIMES, THERE IS ALWAYS THIS STILL, SMALL VOICE THAT REMINDS ME...JESUS IS STILL IN CHARGE. AND YES, AT THOSE TIMES, IF I AM ASKED, 'HOW I AM DOING'? I RESPOND;...'I AM FINE'. NOT ME, BUT THE CHRIST IS ME, IS FINE. IT IS NOT A LIE WHEN YOU SAY TO SOMEONE, '...I AM FINE...' FOR THIS IS THE 'SPIRIT OF GOD' THAT SPEAKS FOR YOU!. HE IS REMINDING YOU THAT HE IS WITH YOU, SO, HANG IN THERE TONY...AND THEN WRITE ABOUT IT! WRITE ABOUT THE 'POWER OF GOD' IN YOUR LIFE AND HOW, IN SPITE OF WHATEVER HAS COME OR WILL COME YOUR WAY...TO GOD BE THE GLORY! 'VICTORIOUS LIVING' DOES NOT MEAN THAT ONE WILL NOT SUFFER...DEPRESSION(IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER)IT ONLY MEANS THAT DAY AFTER DAY WE ARE GIVEN THE VICTORY OVER IT THROUGH THE PREVIOUS BLOOD OF THE ETERNAL LAMB! AND I 'LOVE' AND CAN RELATE TO, THE LAST TWO LINES OF THIS WORK. BECAUSE WHEN MY HOUR OF DEPARTURE ARRIVES, I WILL NOT MAKE A SOUND OR BLOW A HORN EITHER. WHAT IF A PERSON COMES TO THE REALIZATION THAT GOD NEVER ALLOWS ANYTHING FOR OUR HURT, BUT FOR OUR 'GROWTH'? WHAT IF A PERSON TAKES THAT 'ROCK' THAT HAS BEEN THROWN INTO THEIR PATHWAY AND USES IT FOR A 'STEPPING STONE', INSTEAD OF A 'SUMBLING BLOCK'? I've just so involved with FB and yahoo msgr etc and have so many good friends, there on Yahoo, two very good ones really good ones that seem to keep me occupied i don't get chance to read as much as used to on here. But you are not forgotten, ever.

Tony, So sorry for your loss, but life goes on.
The sun will come up again tomorrow. You have to push on.
Keep doing that and eventually a new door opens.
If you can muster the courage to step through it, AMAZING awaits you.
