I have had a great fondness for the wilderness and would have loved to live in it if I could. I was fortunate at 16 and then, 16 years later, to be able to take two seven day canoe excursions in the Boundary Waters joining Minnesota with Ontario. Most recently, driving 30 minutes from my suburban home in Houston to the Brazos Bend for a walk back into time with an amazing number of native and migrant animals and waterfowl to view in seclusion.
Your introduction seems like an idyllic way of life. I would also like to see an excerpt of your writing to see if you can describe your surroundings in the magical way they are to view.

So sorry to hear about your father and not finishing the story before he died. I know he was watching as you wrote. My nephew and his wife are big fans of lighthouses and he is still a kid at heart so I know he will like this story. They were married in a lighthouse and I wrote this poem for them I two versions at that time. It is posted here on AD and at my website:

I somehow think my deep appreciation of the fox has led to more sightings than coincidence can explain.
I certainly can't just go find them, but staying open to the possibility I have been blessed with numerous encounters.
This reminds me...I am due.
