Every Pen Has A Friend (Poetry) - 9/8/2026 7:26:45 PM
All we need is something to write on, and then, write on to our heart's content.

Reality Is A Highway (Poetry) - 9/4/2026 3:24:06 PM
The possibilities are endless except routinely going to the moon. Inspirational right for those who say they are not enjoying life.
Ron
Hater's Hill (Poetry) - 8/17/2026 9:08:23 AM
Telling us how hard it is to hate or hold a grudge. I agree.
Hatred just burns a hole in our mentality and results in violence more often than not. Without hatred, worldwide peace would be easy.
Ron
Hater's Hill (Poetry) - 8/16/2026 8:17:44 AM
Amen. Succinctly put, and oh so true. r
The Trap (Poetry) - 7/18/2026 10:08:38 AM
Yes, we call it civilization. We are programmed from birth to be a certain way, depending upon our place of birth and culture. It's rather hard to escape that trap. Few do. Some of them are poets and philosophers.
Great insight.
Ron
US (Poetry) - 7/8/2026 12:55:58 PM
I love us. It also could be an acronym for United States.
It's when we start thinking, writing or talking about them, that we stray. Let's all get together, all of us, and solve all these problems that we are neglecting when we spend so much time and energy on them instead of us.
Ron
Overall Tuxedo (Poetry) - 7/8/2026 12:40:42 PM
You have portrayed the quintessential country hick. The origin of the term, "redneck." Resulting from spending long days on the tractor with the sun on the back of his neck. Probably why youngsters today turn their baseball caps around so that the bill covers the neck and they don't have a redneck anymore.
Ron
Overall Tuxedo (Poetry) - 7/7/2026 10:18:41 AM
Hi Chester Hardy, just wanted to drop a quick note to say I'm a big fan of your work. Your writing has this really natural flow to it that I love. I wanted to ask what’s the biggest piece of advice you’d give to someone trying to improve their writing? Keep up the awesome work!
Yippy (Poetry) - 6/19/2026 12:31:33 PM
Goats will certainly clean things up around the yard. But I believe they will eat your garden, too. They are rather in discriminate eaters.
Yippee Kayo for you for finding a goat you could buy. Watch out, goats climb quite high.
Ron
Transparency (Poetry) - 6/8/2026 8:51:13 AM
I saw a bit of nonsense. But the opening had me thinking about MacArthur Park. A real park in Los Angeles.
"MacArthur Park is melting in the dark, the sweet cream icing flowing down…Someone left the cake out in the rain…"

Happiness is a Good Dog and a Warm Gun (Poetry) - 5/29/2026 12:27:13 PM
Never had a dog hunt with me. But it would've been great to have one.
I just watched a true story last night titled Arthur the King. It's about an endurance race held in the Dominican Republic. A stray, befriends the leader of a four person team and travels with them the entire length of the difficult course.
They name him Arthur. But Arthur is on his last legs as a dog. His new found friend decides to take him to America.
Hope you get to see it.
Ron
Super Glue (Poetry) - 5/25/2026 9:35:59 AM
We just bought some Gorilla Glue…will that work? Oh, I see it for wood. I guess you'll have to get wooden before we use it.
But I see something more. Aren't most Americans glued to their rituals? It takes a lot of thinking to break that bond created when we were young and gullible and didn't know we were being super glued into a certain way of thinking, hard to get out of.
Ron
Buff The Haze (Poetry) - 4/24/2026 1:04:44 PM
We can't stop them taking that air in water. Them is us when it comes to taking air and water.
But if you can't do anything about it, maybe rose colored glasses will help.
Finally, it could be the onset of cataracts. Making vision become more and more hazy.
Ron
Now I Know Why (Poetry) - 3/27/2026 11:29:08 AM
We can't help but get attached to them like family. And they certainly give all they've got to the leader of the pack.
Ron
Same Old Road (Poetry) - 3/17/2026 8:46:02 AM
Refreshing and brief description of the workers' routine. I know the feeling…
Ron
Buttons (Poetry) - 2/8/2026 11:19:39 AM
Very original. I like it.
First, zippers it away with a lot of buttons. And then, Velcro did away with a lot of zippers.
With the Internet, many more buttons came back. But with AI and voice control, later, mind control, buttons may disappear altogether.
Ron
Buttons (Poetry) - 2/8/2026 6:28:03 AM
Aww, I thought this was about Cinderella's best friend, Buttons. I was wanting to say "oh no it isn't" as it’s pantomime season.
Least it's not buttons on their eyes as in Gaiman's book.
Yet how true where would we be without them, possibly arrested without on trousers.
Taking a simple item and writing poetry about it is an excellent ability.
Great name, too.
Climb A Tree (Poetry) - 1/19/2026 3:00:32 PM
You reached an old tree hugger. The feeling of the rough bark is almost as good as hugging the layers of fur of a Malamute.
And there once wasn't a tree that I wouldn't attempt to climb and get into its highest branches. Fortunately, though, not having to escape the unbreathable air that sometimes blankets our world.
Ron
Twenty Twenty Six (Poetry) - 1/3/2026 11:15:35 AM
You're right. We click a lot. But now it's silent with a soft finger touch. Remembering when we had to push real hard to get the hammer to click on the paper with our old manual typewriter.
This is it…2026 pick up your sticks
Ron
The Grip (Poetry) - 9/12/2025 2:20:24 PM
I think I got your message. They're preaching it to those who don't have a sense of what is really important. And it's not their agenda.
Ron
The Bell (Poetry) - 8/25/2025 12:35:27 PM
I couldn't help think of one of our authors here. I think she will get a tickle out of reading this.
Ron
tivity (Poetry) - 8/6/2025 1:30:17 PM
Still don't know what it is, but I agree with the last line.
Most men spend their lives in triviality. What women do is beyond men's comprehension.
Ron
The Ultimate Curve Supprise (Poetry) - 8/3/2025 9:46:04 AM
I have been amazed throughout the years how much curves attract. But waking up with someone curvy in your arms is the ultimate best thing that can happen.
Ron
Her Beauty (Poetry) - 7/30/2025 9:06:52 AM
Your poem begs an image. If she is real honor her with a photograph. If she is not, use AI and create the woman of your dreams with stunning beauty like the poem suggests.
Ron
NEXT (Poetry) - 7/21/2025 12:40:02 PM
Next is right around the corner and you never know what you're going to get – Forrest Gump.
Your poem tells me, Don't Worry, Be Happy – Bobby McFerrin.

Clear Is (Poetry) - 7/19/2025 11:17:15 AM
I can see clearly now after reading your poem of clarity. Nicely written in a nice structure. I like it.
Ron
Pure Is (Poetry) - 10/3/2024 1:32:05 PM
Pure becomes everything in your poem. I like the line… Sin… Because some sin described by authority is actually much purer than the authority that declared it, Sin.
Ron
Echos (Poetry) - 9/25/2024 9:20:35 AM
How true. I find my dreams often repeating in echo like fashion. And people are talking too fast for my declining hearing to pick up all the words before they are gone forever.
As we age, there will be less and less mercy shown for our growing disabilities. Making death more welcome, I assume.
Ron
September (Poetry) - 9/2/2024 1:00:14 PM
Those months rolled by faster when we age, don't they?
Pretty soon, instead of opening my eyes and discovering that 2 hours just went away, somewhere, it might be whole weeks and months. Just can't happen. Too much important trivia to do every day.
Ron
The Key To Heaven (Poetry) - 8/28/2024 12:53:18 PM
Astronomers are still counting those stars and finding that the sharper their focus, the more stars they see.
What a lovely poem you have written about answering one of those knotty questions that youngsters like to ask.
Ron
The Key To Heaven (Poetry) - 8/28/2024 12:12:22 PM
What a beautiful, tender poem, Chester.
Joy Joy Joy (Poetry) - 8/28/2024 5:30:47 AM
Enjoyed your poem so much!
Joy Joy Joy (Poetry) - 8/16/2024 2:04:18 PM
This one is even more joyous and light than mine today. Really quite catchy. But near the end I kept thinking of singing, "Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea. Joy to you and me."
Ron
My Heart (Poetry) - 8/13/2024 9:40:11 AM
Story of a heart full of life and joy. Beautiful poem Chester.
Beauty That Waits (Poetry) - 6/29/2024 9:11:47 AM
Thank you for reminding me of many times, especially in West Virginia, where I just got in the car on a Sunday afternoon and just drove those "country roads" that Bob Denver made famous.
Not only beauty waits, but peace of mind. Something that I miss with everyone rushing here and there following the commands of their GPS to get there as soon as possible in their hectic lives going nowhere.

Love Out Loud (Poetry) - 6/7/2024 3:07:20 PM
Actions do speak louder than words. But women sometimes known fully understand that. ;-)

White Rabbit (Poetry) - 6/5/2024 3:06:06 PM

Starlight Shadows (Poetry) - 5/15/2024 2:24:16 PM
Chester this is a heart touchng poem. Sometimes we are less lonesome in a lonesome place.
Starlight Shadows (Poetry) - 5/8/2024 8:39:35 AM
Man, I love this! I don't see why others aren't commenting. Lots of images and thoughts provoked by those insightful words.

Show Me Fast (Poetry) - 4/23/2024 12:19:06 PM
You woke me up! The only time I go fast now as every other day when I stop eating to slow the process of gaining weight slowing me down. But time keeps getting faster…

Ear Hand Paper Pen (Poetry) - 4/11/2024 10:39:36 AM
Right now, I have only one hearing aid and it has trouble listening to music while other chatters going on..
Where do I stand? Have been focusing on keeping afloat. Perhaps I should call on some old friends and relatives. Unless you mean putting pen onto paper as the "old friend." Almost daily, I'm dictating, not only these comments to everyone's poetry, stories and articles, but to creation of words on electronic symbols in cyberspace rather than wasting paper or even pen ink on something that will be eventually burned.
Ron
Moonflower (Poetry) - 4/7/2024 11:42:09 AM
Nice thoughts told very well.
Green Retrieve (Poetry) - 3/26/2024 10:22:14 AM
Sure signs of spring.

Some Words (Poetry) - 3/7/2024 12:29:19 PM
"Words are all I have" the song opens with. Yes words make all the difference in a civilization based on the written word for order. Still, we communicate without words, probably better than with.
Thanks for the thoughts about words.

How it ends is how it begins (Poetry) - 2/18/2024 11:05:42 AM
A bit of wisdom about how things really are. Like the wildflowers, beauty and pain come along to everyone, sometimes. But other times it is something different.

Valentine Treat (Poetry) - 1/30/2024 8:09:06 AM
You have described my Valentine, perfectly.

Mystery (Poetry) - 1/23/2024 6:26:33 PM
Sometimes I love a good mystery and I don't always feel the need to unravel it, Silence is good, at times its very comforting, thanks for sharing your poem Chester
Mystery (Poetry) - 1/23/2024 9:01:16 AM
There's a lot of mystery out there. Making people curious about what really happened.
What's really sad though, is when a mystery seems to be solved by a legend and then, is found out to be something entirely different after scientific investigation.
For example, a man convicted of murder from eyewitnesses. Mystery solved. Twenty years later, DNA proves without a shadow of a doubt that another man did the crime. How do we pay back the men who served 20 years for falsely thinking that he was the one who solved the mystery.
Ron
Shocking (Poetry) - 1/19/2024 12:16:36 PM
An interesting construct and use of repetition. Some people are shocked by something that others find not shocking. But you can be sure that whatever it is, in the news, it is either breaking or impacting. Two words that are overrated and overused.
Ron
Shocking (Poetry) - 1/19/2024 7:22:16 AM
An introspective poem that takes us on a journey of discovery, well written piece Chester :)
Midnight Stroll (Poetry) - 1/6/2024 12:37:18 PM
Your rap style romp through midnight presents a challenge to those wanting to write.

Big Ole World (Poetry) - 12/21/2023 1:52:19 PM
A good lesson to use that "one time" while we can before it's all gone.
I once tried to repair an over wound clock. As I released the last screw holding it together, and exploded in a million pieces in my hands. You can't rollback time no matter how you slice it.

Hugs and Kisses Ribbons and Bows (Poetry) - 12/4/2023 12:00:05 PM
Showing love with hugs and kisses is the greatest gift we can give loved ones of all.

Love Will (Poetry) - 11/29/2023 12:12:23 PM
Lovely thoughts about love. All true for those who have love, but not for those who have lost love. Self-love is the only guaranteed love.

The Sunny Side (Poetry) - 11/28/2023 2:44:01 PM
Nice rythm in this poem. Fall and winter is studded with holidays and that makes it worth the ice, the snow and the darkness. The sunny side is the good times we share with our families and celebrate.
The Sunny Side (Poetry) - 11/23/2023 10:18:52 AM
While I won't be with my family far away, I'm lucky to be able to eat hearty can keep the sunny side in mind all year long like your poem suggests. Carrying the holiday spirit with us all year.

Who's Got Blue (Poetry) - 11/17/2023 5:33:40 AM
Would make a great country song, Chester.
Who's Got Blue (Poetry) - 11/12/2023 12:54:34 PM
A good question. No sense to sing the blues when love leaves. Better just to get back out in the field again and leave the blues behind, red hot love to find.
Ron
Who's Got Blue (Poetry) - 11/12/2023 5:28:41 AM
This sounds like a song lyrics. A good minimalist poem.

a smile everyone knows (Poetry) - 10/31/2023 5:35:59 PM
Chester, I wanted to get the feel of your poetry. I think I recognize the homage and the loss of Norma Jean, one who is no longer on earth. If I am right, she waw greatly loved and will always be remembered and missed.
God bless you. Connie

For many, perhaps, but I prefer science over human perception.

War (Poetry) - 8/28/2023 7:49:11 AM
No one wins in war except the Grim Reaper. Why do we keep making war machines? The answer is simple… Money.

Why Ask Why (Poetry) - 8/24/2023 7:51:51 AM
Another way of repeating Henry David Thoreau's observation… "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." We are all ants with our useless rituals telling us to dig deeper. But we never asked why we are doing it.
With this short poem you have made a very profound point.
Ron
Circle of Roses (Poetry) - 8/2/2023 9:20:24 AM
I believe there are two messages in your sweet poem about roses. Through the circle of the seasons, life continues on.

Hero's (Poetry) - 7/4/2023 11:13:30 AM
True words. Heroes happen all the time. And there are usually the ones who are on the scene when things happen, take care of business, and then go on their way, humbly. These are not the heroes of movies, television or books, they are not always just soldiers. But ordinary citizens doing the right thing all the time with little credit for the good work they do.
Ron
Stark (Poetry) - 7/2/2023 8:03:49 AM
Stark was a fitting title for this dark poem. But I'm not sure what was long, thin and too sharp to bend requiring having to try to find another place to hide.
Ron
It's About Time (Poetry) - 6/1/2023 12:38:47 PM
Your poem is timely…
Those fat from money they gather in Congress are fighting for a budget with more military spending while taking away from benefits to the weakest and poorest of our citizens. There are also opposed to the other side's wanting to expand certain programs for the poor and disabled.
All because in order to do either, the budget ceiling has to be raised.
Compromise like this can lead to a failure to do the right thing in the long run. Putting it off for a future they may not be to anyone's liking.

Hear That Rumble (Poetry) - 4/19/2023 9:35:04 AM
Let's hope, that this time, it is freedom for all. Especially those oppressed.

Hear That Rumble (Poetry) - 4/19/2023 1:21:36 AM
Very nice. I like the rythm, I found myself reading it to the beat that it conjured up in my mind.
Hell to Pay (Poetry) - 4/10/2023 1:13:35 PM
Easter seems to be fading along with the power of Catholic priests to rule our young people into thinking that Jesus Christ, probably a very good man, ascended into a place called heaven and sat on the right hand of his father.
Freethinking people realize the difference between a myth and reality.
Ron
Hell to Pay (Poetry) - 4/8/2023 10:19:00 AM
Dark and grimm. Somehow you’ve managed to squeeze some love in there as well.
The Link (Poetry) - 3/23/2023 9:14:45 AM
Everything shared with everything. A short simple poem of mystical truth.
Run With It (Poetry) - 3/1/2023 10:21:10 AM

Run With It (Poetry) - 2/27/2023 11:34:05 AM
Sage advice. Are you using too when it should be to for emphasis, like too much, or just a mistake you didn't want to.

Oh Ohio Crys (Poetry) - 2/20/2023 10:52:09 AM
It will take time, a lot of money, and a lot of hard work. But it will be fixed.
The price we pay for letting big oil become more important and our overuse of chemicals we don't really need in all of our products to make them cheaper and less durable, while letting our infrastructure like railroads deteriorate to the point where derailing like this occurs often at great cost both in the current situation and the shutdown of a busy lifeline of goods traveling coast-to-coast.
Thanks for putting the plight of this small town in a poignant poem reaching out to all that read that this town and the surrounding area will be in a fight for a long time to return to a natural and beautiful place to live in the Ohio countryside.
Ron
Brigadier of all fears (Poetry) - 2/17/2023 8:53:32 AM
Dark. Peace can come without followed by fight. Just give in to the light.
Hey You Butter Cups (Poetry) - 2/15/2023 7:32:29 AM
You buttered me up with your buttercups in this poem.
Reminded me of the time on a warm spring road trip when my brother and I were six. When the car overheated and dad got water from the ditch to get it to cool down. We picked buttercups for mom to put in vases when we got home. Unfortunately after a noon picnic that day, we ran into a car that came up blind on a very hilly road and rolled over in the ditch. The buttercups were strewn all over the car and we didn't take them with us when we got a ride home later that night.
Ron
Hey You Butter Cups (Poetry) - 2/15/2023 2:29:14 AM
Great poem of the spirit of a fighter.
Words (Poetry) - 2/3/2023 11:08:43 AM
Some wordly advise. Words spoken or written in anger are the worst. But it is necessary to raise a voice against tyranny rather than be silent. Often it's not how the words were written or said, but the interpretation of those who heard or read it. Misunderstandings are the hardest to mend.
Ron
Words (Poetry) - 2/2/2023 5:37:50 AM
This is true and well expressed.
Loneliest Shadow (Poetry) - 1/31/2023 7:27:01 PM

A fine analogy, Chester. Love and peace to you,

Frame It (Poetry) - 1/29/2023 9:48:19 AM
Thank you. I have done as you wish. My walls are graced by the beauty of disabled artists who survive from their talents and patrons like me.
But you reminded me of that wonderful photograph of Falling Water in Pennsylvania that I visited one time and bought in their little shop. I framed it and hung it above my fireplace when I built my own new home without a waterfall running through it. Somehow, it got misplaced and I miss it on my wall. A reminder of the architect in the that I never got to practice except for that one that I designed and built.

I Almost Cut My Hair (Poetry) - 1/26/2023 11:34:13 AM
Yes, that Texas legend sure had unique long hair long after it was fashionable for old guys to continue wearing what must've been a nuisance at times.
He was easy to spot in the crowd because of his bald top and long hair animating down his shoulders with that unique mustache, all in premature white.
We will miss David Crosby's guitar playing and beautiful voice. RIP
Ron
Loneliest Shadow (Poetry) - 1/24/2023 9:35:07 AM
Intriguing write. More so intrigued by "Ain't got no apples
For you to keep", my imagination is running wild with that, and I've got some really fascinating scenarios in mind. :D
Loneliest Shadow (Poetry) - 1/23/2023 2:31:47 PM
That shadow tends to lurk closer to someone hurting in the dark than someone reveling in the sunlight of day.
I immediately thought of the song, White Room (at the Station) "Where the shadows run from themselves."

Push It (Poetry) - 1/10/2023 12:00:23 PM

Let em Dogs Run (Poetry) - 1/9/2023 2:18:39 PM
I totally agree. Although I live in suburbia, I never put a leash on my little Pomeranian. Whenever we went out on the street he would keep close to me in my wheelchair so that he could run back and jump into my lap if he sensed danger.
I had a doggy door that he could use any time to leave the house and do his business. He could run from the front of the house to the back of the house to chase a bird or lizard at will. Actually wore little path around the corner of the house where he ran that way so many times a day. I never had to cut his toenails or his hair and he was very healthy but he was killed by a lab mix because he always ran out through the garage door when I opened it, one time to end up underneath a car with only a grease spot on his back to show for it.

I definetely feel the connection.
Whiskey Soaked Cigar (Poetry) - 12/27/2022 4:55:13 AM
This makes me think of a journey of the soul perhaps in the ethereal plane? Or maybe a moment of just being in the moment, like meditation. Anyhow. I like the different pictures painted by your words. Well done.
Realization (Poetry) - 12/24/2022 7:54:32 AM
Yes, we need to realize how lucky we are to be able to be alive at this time with all that it brings us. So much we miss while going about our daily activities and not thinking what a wonderful world we live in with all of its opportunities and sometimes, disappointments.

Realization (Poetry) - 12/24/2022 5:31:01 AM
All are connected, all God's creation is part of him and each other. Lovely poem, Chester. Merry Christmas.
Granny Got Grits (Poetry) - 12/12/2022 9:40:56 AM
I know what you mean. We had fried potatoes with onions with our pintos most times. Cornbread and buttermilk, YUM. Love your Queen of the South poem, Chester. I'd like some greens too, please, thank you.
Granny Got Grits (Poetry) - 12/11/2022 9:45:37 AM
I like the twang of it but not the grits of it. From what little I know, Southerners take perfectly good corn with lots of nutrition and soak it in lye until it is bleached… white and totally devoid of nutrition and taste. No wonder one has to put hot sauce on it to give it any flavor. Like white bread, nutritionists can't believe that our ancestors were healthy eating such purified, but deadly things as white flour, grits, white rice and other highly processed foods.
I haven't run a study. But have you noticed that the closer to the equator that someone is eating native food, the hotter the sauce must be on it. My simple conclusion is that in the heat of the tropics, food spoiled rapidly. By putting something very hot on it, it was thought that the peppers would kill the bacteria growing so fast. At least that's my simple, nonscientific conclusion. I still have my taste buds by not shocking them to numbness.
Ron
Y's (Poetry) - 12/9/2022 6:08:51 AM
Chester this is a soul touching poem. Beautiful. In the storms and depravations of life we access our unrealized strength.
Y's (Poetry) - 12/7/2022 8:37:34 PM
A very gut-wrenching write.

Y's (Poetry) - 12/7/2022 9:06:12 AM
Hardy ends with a Y, so why not?
Hardy suggests someone who is very strong and durable. Someone who can survive the emptiness of having been left by a friend or lover. So I think you will endure beyond the verses you have written and find true contentment, perhaps in song.
Ron
Dysfunction Rolls (Poetry) - 12/4/2022 8:14:38 AM
