So sad. Yet true friendship never dies.
What one feels and what is reality rarely meet.
I don't know the situation but I totally doubt if there is any hate.
The last two lines say so much. "I wish it was just us. You and me."
What a beautiful friend you must have to long for such renewed friendship.

This flows as it goes so very well. I'd remove boys, if I may suggest. To me it jars the rhythm and slows the pace.
I didn't grasp it at first, but this is a eulogy of someone you deeply loved. A lad full of the joys of life.
The worse thing for any parent or sibling is death in the wrong order of life's scheme.

Another, another, another... is like a oncoming steam-train of pain never letting up.
The poem whacks the reader, winds the reader, angers the reader.
Tight write, I feel that it was written spontaneously.
It is effective and affective.

Chels, This is so intensely written, as if a "safe" confession. I know that the horrors of captivity can be devastingly brutal and scarring to the soul...If this is a true dipiction of something that has happened to you or a loved one, they really must get out of this situation, get help and be free of someone that has abused them beyond human reckoning. It is so sad to believe that this could actually happen in the day and age..God willing this is fiction.
You are an amazing writer, never stop!!!!

A very emotional and well written poem, and one I empathise with as my own Mum died just before the Tsunami...
My own belief as that they do live on...and still watch over us..and that is a very comforting thought..

You have perception beyond your years. The abuser beats down the victim until they believe that they deserve the abuse and usually they haven't the means or will to leave. The line about the baby being on the stairs and witnessing her mother's abuse is heartbreaking. A resounding cheer to your friend for having the courage to go!! She is lucky to call you "friend". You are a fine poet, young lady. Welcome!

Welcome to AD, I can totally relate to this poem. I have been a victim of domestic violence (8 years ago). I am free and safe and healthy and happy. Tell your friend to leave, and never look back.
