This is beautifully written and comes from the heart of only a mother. When my son told me that he wanted to marry the young lady whom he had dated for about a year, I was stunned. I loved the love of my son's life who now my daughter inlaw of seven years...and I actually arranged their first date, because I thought she was so sweet, beautiful, and just the right person for my first born, I wasn't ready to turn loose...for he was my baby still. The emotions that bleed through your words capture the exact feelings that I was faced with. I loved your advice, I too gave similar advice as this to my child...this is one of the hardest things that a mother must do...let go. I got through this hard part of my life that I hadn't planned for by being thankful that he was healthy and alive...I know mom's who have had to say goodbye for the final time until they meet again in heaven. I felt a bit selfish when I thought about those mom's. Today, seven years later my son and daughter inlaw have given me a beautiful granddaughter who reminds me so much of my son at that age...my advice to them is to cherish her enjoy her....for time has a way of slipping away quickly. Great write my friend...you've taken me back in time.
