A well-written technical article. Ron

Flashes of colorful brilliance strewn through this poem. Ron

A moving expression. Intelligent imagery... "a flash marmoreal" A word rarely used. Characteristic of marble. Thanks for sharing. You have a gift. rlc

Short poem… Almost endless analysis ;-). Ron

Feel welcome to my free text over the Internet Archive, on Emily Dickinson's first series of poetry. https://archive.org/details/EMILYDICKINSONFIRSTSERIES .Ronald, Emily Dickinson was refined, but she always left a hint, to help comprehension. Most "average readers" would think it cannot be about a love affair, as you do not have those with dust. :)

I would certainly agree with this analysis of Emily Dickinson's work that you have done much to interpret meaning in a poem like Surrender… Far more than the average reader would surmise. Ron

Ustępstwo -- translation (Poetry) - 8/7/2017 4:36:55 PM
Very impressive work here. More of a poetic dissertation than a simple poem. Very well done!

Dla piękna umarłam -- translation (Poetry) - 7/24/2017 8:11:03 PM
.Ron, I do not think it is about the dead talking. The poem is more as a fairy tale that says beauty and truth can get along, yet they may be mortal, because our world is. Ancients told such stories; we can compare the tale of Eurydice https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurydice Emily Dickinson made more such tales, please compare Life XX, I TASTE A LIQUOR NEVER BREWED, Love XIII, RENUNCIATION, or Love XIV, LOVE’S BAPTISM. .Jerry I definitely agree Emily Dickinson deserves praise.

Amazing, except for Ron, even the great Emily does not get the recognition she deserves here on AD.

A gruesome fantasy to think that the dead in different rooms talk to one another. I have never read Emily Dickinson's poems, so I don't know if this is representative of her work or not. But it's good to get translations of classics so that more people could read them. Ron

A że się dla Śmierci zatrzymać nie mogłam -- translation (Poetry) - 11/30/2014 12:02:26 PM
Dear Ronald, There could not be two languages of exact same rhyme and sound; translation does not damage, unless it is indifferent to language nature. I hope to make my rhyme in Polish correspond with the American original -- though they are, necessarily, different sounds, you may think a contour -- I yet doubt the clarity of "a message", whichever the tongue. ;) As a translator, I do not "disambiguate" (there's no such mind reading); I translate. :)

Wow! What a beautiful poem with meticulous rhyming and a message that is intriguingly clear. Like Richard said, to translate this beautiful poem into Polish must destroy the rhyme and make it very difficult, indeed. Ron

A meticulous presentation. That you care, and your love of language, is evident. Polish English translation (I'm sure) is a genuine challenge. Thanks for sharing...

Threnody VIII by John Kohanovski -- a translation (Poetry) - 9/1/2014 12:25:46 PM
The fathers sad reminiscence of his little girl and the joy that filled the now empty spaces. This speaks volumes to the parents sadness now that they're daughter is all grownup and gone. Not having children of my own, I can nevertheless sense the wish not expressed. That child will beget child and they may once again vicariously experience that joy at times. Wonderful translation of such a great, and to us, unknown poet. I hope there are more. Bob

This is truly a masterpiece. I'm sure it lost something in translation. While I never had children, I recall a period where I faced an empty house for a few years and it's not a pleasant feeling. Ron

.John Domino Thank you very much! This is what I wanted to render in Kohanovsky's poetry -- opinions on it mostly relied on vowel count, and I thought he was very emotional, though, obviously, also a master of his tongue. :)

Very emotional piece of poetry here. Well done Teresa!
