Recent Reviews for Mariah K Rowse

Alex (Short Story) - 9/2/2003 6:37:39 PM
I am thrilled that you keep adding to this screen play Mariah. I am also extremely proud of the depth here, the investigative serches that provide credence and the years that you spent counseling other teens. If only others' knew your depth. love, mom

Starry Starry Night (Short Story) - 2/15/2003 6:43:12 PM
Hi Mariah, I remember your writing this when you were much younger. Your first attempt at a screenplay proved your creative abundance. You have blossomed my child and you've grown into beauty in wisdom and confidence. Love, Mom/Susan ( even at calling me mother)

Starry Starry Night (Short Story) - 2/14/2003 6:50:17 PM
Believe you should use the present voice to describe action. She smiled and gave Erich a hug and a kiss on the cheek, told him goodnight, then returned to the bedroom. Try: She smiles, hugs Eric and kisses his cheek, mumbles 'goodnight' then exits (unless we see her go in the bedroom on screen, then say "exits to bedroom"). Use shorter sentences. Toss out the grammar book. Dialogue is good.

Glass Children (Poetry) - 8/13/2018 1:06:22 PM

My Heart (Poetry) - 3/4/2015 5:07:21 PM
a lovely poem of love ...

My Heart (Poetry) - 2/23/2015 8:20:18 AM
If it sounds like love, feels like love, sounds like love, tastes like love, looks like love then chances are it is love. This is what love gives us and when we cannot think of anything else without love finding its way back into our hearts, then it is a very deep love to the point we feel ill. It is not a bad feeling but it is a pervasive and very strong emotion. Excellent work, Mariah

My Heart (Poetry) - 2/21/2015 11:22:51 AM
What "being in love" feels like, exactly. Well penned. Ron

My Heart (Poetry) - 2/20/2015 5:08:59 PM

Beached (Poetry) - 10/7/2009 5:43:35 AM
Mariah when I read this for some reason it was so well done and with such a bittersweet sadness in the folds between the lines it made me think for a moment about your mother who was also one of the great writers of the den. I hope all is well with you both and hope your heart and your words will continue to grace our den for a long time to come. hugs fee

Beached (Poetry) - 10/6/2009 6:29:59 PM

Wish (Poetry) - 5/16/2008 7:53:03 PM
I especially like the last verse This is almost exactly how I acted and felt when I was younger, I was searching for my soulmate, only I didn't fully understand the scope of my search or even the fragility of life then, I do now, Soulmates are truly the saviors of each other from the horrors of this life, and I have finally found her, she is your Mother, This poem takes me away to a time when we can finally be together. This is my favorite poem of yours. Thank You, Pierre

Wish (Poetry) - 5/15/2008 10:34:21 AM
I love how this one just sort of fades in to a dreamy night sky of hope then actually wraps up with that hope being fulfilled. It leaves us to ponder who the "you" is who has shown you the stars, a lover, a friend, a parent or perhaps even a God. Regardless this is one of your finest. hugs fee

Glass Children (Poetry) - 7/26/2007 7:13:55 PM
This reminds me of the books from the early 1800's when the slave ships, out of Africa ,would dump their booty of living children lest they be caught. The slaves would be thrown overboard and eventually sink. This is a most horrid situation but very true when the Morroccan slave owners would bring their slaves over many oceans to sell. This is chilling. Love, Mom

Things That Glow In The Dark (Poetry) - 3/13/2007 11:55:33 PM
Extraordinary use of anthropomorphism (humanising the inanimate). E.g: Making the glow worms jealous with the loss. Lying with the leaves in their makeshift caskets. Candles left to work their magic, Flickering in the dark… Choosing which shadows to trick, By dancing across to leave their mark. This stansa in particular could comfortably fit into Fantasia as a segment set to a C.Saint-Saens' piece (Fossils from Le Carnaval des animaux, springs to mind). 'The children gather starlight in their baskets.' Indeed! Evocative imagery that sprouts from the peat, rich soil of fertile imagination. From a writer so young and still a long way off from the height of her powers, we have a bountiful literary harvest to enjoy both in the present and in the future. Regards Daibhidh

Baby Casper (Poetry) - 2/10/2007 2:11:42 AM
This is a story told in a clasical way that is very reminiscent of Poe. I love the way it is open to limited interpretation and even possible uses of metaphors and analogies. Well done Mariah. Fee

Half Life (Poetry) - 2/3/2007 8:32:19 AM
This one hurts, Mariah: poignantly described sorrow in verse; well done! (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Half Life (Poetry) - 2/2/2007 7:35:02 PM

Half Life (Poetry) - 2/2/2007 6:27:34 PM

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/28/2007 7:45:38 AM
i luv how you explore your musings as poet ... the entire poem is composed skillfully and with deep insight ... i particularly like, "I am not a poet for stringing a pair of subconscious thoughts in place. I am not a poet because my heart can depict a single look in infinite ways. I am a poet because I know that simply... One cannot exist without the other. excellent thoughts expressed masterly ...

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 9:30:31 AM
We are not in control of the Muse, Mariah, and you capture that p o w e r f u l l y. Are our words truth? Lies? Doesn't matter: they are OUR children. :) Up to the reader to decide..........I love this poem, one of your BEST! Thought provoking excellence! (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 7:39:22 AM
You write well of this view into the poetic mind and how it is viewed from the other side of thoughts expressed and written memories...nice work... enjoyed this poem of depth.....Art Sun...

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 7:04:52 AM
The creative poet can find words when the Muse is resting at times. There are many times when I'm numb and my energies want to write but my senses have been twisted and in need of a rest. Everything good comes in moderation.Your words here were tossed around because your Muse was resting but you woke up the Muse and I'm proud as she that you did. The finished product is remarkable. This is beautiful. Love, Mom

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 6:06:28 AM
I always felt that an inspired write was worth more than one of many words with little or no feelings or emotions attatched to them, for a muse is a powerful tool that we must use. Enjoyed this write my friend! Blessings, Joyce Bowling

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 4:07:32 AM
An introspective look that all poets take and express in the written word as you have done.

The Birth Of A Poet (Poetry) - 1/27/2007 3:10:28 AM
Muses set there own agendas and we as mere poets must follow the dictates of their whims. Even the quality of their work is their decision, I have followed their courses and sometimes my work is mediocre but when they inspire me with a great one as soon as the keys stop clacking I know they gave me somthing special and I thank them. Fee

Rebirth (Poetry) - 1/3/2007 12:33:09 AM
Mariah another stark and intensly justified write on the state of life and the civilization of the world today. I disagree with Manshi, I think there is more then enought detail and your images are imaginative and bold. You let the reader draw there own inferences which is what good poetry should do, along with make one think. Thank you for this write and let's hope things may spin towards a better world in 2007. Fee

Pass Away (Poetry) - 11/11/2006 7:05:21 AM
Life flies by as quick as a gnat blinks. What we know is only this world but what is not known after this world is the aventure in the next. We must hold onto the faith we have in meeting in the next adventure. I've found that this keeps my vision more vast than what is taught in this world today. Love, Mom
