I recall the inner peace I often felt and even warmth during a gentle snowfall. Knowing that no two snowflakes were exactly alike. One of nature's amazing feats of brilliance.
And, like sparkling waters, the way that light reflects off of snow sometimes, during the time when the sun is low in the morning or in the evening and even at night with the moon, the reflection can be viewed like sparkling diamonds as your poem describes…wonderful!

You took me there. Memories of going to the Center, Wisconsin State Fair for many years and even working there on the midway for two years making lots of money before starting school.
My last experience was at a conference in Dallas where we were given lots of tickets to the Texas State Fair. It was a grand evening we spent there with reminders of my youth all around… Especially the inviting smells from all the food being prepared. Magical wherever you go.

For many years I chased the will sunset to arrive before a firework show began wherever I was in this great nation. But in recent years, it has been much better to just stay at home, turn on the big screen, listen to the music and watch the spectacular show of fireworks on the TV rather than getting out under the "rockets red glare" anymore.

Would love to see that California superbloom. We experience the same thing here in Texas on a yearly basis, but this year they say it is one of the best after our recent drought and multiple storms this spring. But if you don't stop, get out of the car and get down among the bees, butterflies and occasional hummingbirds to really see what it's all about and smell their fragrance, you are missing out on much more than just a beautiful landscape passing by that will fade in a few days or weeks.
I haven't heard anything about Death Valley, but I bet the wildflowers are exploding there again.

I've been fasting every other day to lose a little bit of tummy and because it's good for my health. But I'm tempted by some of my everyday snacks to sneak a little bit of them while fasting. I'm already seeing benefits after a couple of months. And feeling better, too.

The essence of being snowbound. In some places in Minnesota and in the Dakotas, it's a long way to town or even the next farm or ranch. When snowed in, one has to wait until the roads are plowed and clear. Drifts can be as hard as concrete and hard to dig out of the way.
We were snowbound in May of either my seventh or eighth year at my grandparents' truck farm in northwestern Wisconsin. Mom and grandpa had to crawl on top of 8 to 10 foot drifts on the road for 1/2 mile and then walk 1/2 mile on the highway that was blown clear by the wind to a little grocery store to get those essentials. The next day, late, a snowplow managed to clear the road by going through some farmers' fields. Our weekend was prolonged until Wednesday when my family was able to get in the car and escape for the hundred mile drive back home.

Yes, snowy or icy winter scenes are a delight. While trying to get somewhere stuck in an airport, or worse traveling on a road where you wind up in the ditch can be very stressful.
I miss those frigid scenes, but I still have so many embedded in my memory that they are like a childhood Courier and Ives display for Christmas.

(I once grew some Pumpkin seeds and although there were several
of the most amazing apricot coloured flowers…hinting at a bountiful
crop…only one Pumpkin grew…but they are absolutely fascinating
to grow…little green tendrils clinging on where they can for balance…
We really treasured the one that grew…it was carefully carved and
we had a delicious Pumpkin soup, and the seeds were toasted in the oven!

A fun reminder of days when most of us lived in rural America with the harvest at hand and always a couple of pumpkins we grew ourselves.
But I'm stuck in the middle of suburbia where I can buy pumpkins at the local supermarket but have to drive at least 50 miles before I could find rural harvests and pumpkins growing in the fields. It's a shame we don't have Halloween in the city like we used to. Just a party at our community center so that the kids will not be bothered on the street or given poison in their treats.

That is a big change. I'm not sure exactly where you're headed, but I did that many years ago when I was able to move easily with everything I had in my car.
California winters can be dry and cool. Sweaters and wool clothing can come in handy. With water, you can grow anything in California. But it is very dry and brown compared to the Midwest.
In time, you will probably love living there, because I sure did.

The wonders of Mexico and so many beautiful beach communities. It is a treasure that Mexico has, along with the mariachi bands and low-priced good drinks and eats. Have apartheid in that magic, too.
There is a rather large contingent of Americans heading south of the border to enjoy that lifestyle year-round in retirement.

Yes, the interstate highway system took everyone away from the congestion of driving two lane highways through small town and other obstructions just to get there. But the result was that the countryside could be enjoyed all the more because once you got on those two lane roads off of the interstate, traffic was so light that one could lazily drive through the country and enjoy the sights you have shown us in this little poem. Much enjoyed.

A California ritual for some. Although it could be in Hawaii. Either way, what a wonderful way to spend a day. My only day body surfing at Santa Cruz reminded me how cold the water was. Every couple of attempts required me to get out of the 55° water onto the beach to warm up in the sun with the air temperature only at around 70°. Only caught one wave that whole day.

The bluebonnets may be especially beautiful this year because of the three day freeze and the amount of rain that has been falling in central Texas. A hopeful poem. Unfortunately, pesticides used in agriculture are probably to blame for much of their decline. But I just read that feral or wild bees are much more resilient to the kinds of ailments affecting domesticated bees. Probably because they get their nectar from the wild plants and trees rather than crops that are heavily covered with pesticides, supposedly to keep them healthy, creating the opposite as a result.

Reminds me of some of the pictures of furtive animals that just wouldn't stay still as I tried to photograph them in Yellowstone. One huge antlered elk with a huge harem, scared me so, I only took the picture when he put his head down to graze. When the picture came out, all I got was is a distant rump between trees!

I would love to see tulips again, but I have not seen them here in the Houston area. Perhaps it's the soil, or perhaps it's the fact that we don't get freezing weather. I remember them popping up in a couple of places on my property in West Virginia, planted long ago by somebody who liked them as well as I did. That I left there after only three years.
Tulips are certainly harbingers of spring.

Many will have to hold on tight. I have been on a self-imposed quarantine (not related to the virus, but due to the difficulty of going out in the public with my paralysis and all that entails getting me ready and then getting me back home) since last October. I do get outside every day when there is sun and warmth. But not to meet other people.
I am happy and contented alone except for my caregivers coming and going that keep me alive and happy.

You brought back memories of my many days fishing and joining my parents at their cottage in the Wisconsin Northwoods. For those who have not tasted walleye or their pan fish smaller relatives, freshwater perch, I would like to tell them that it is one of the finest tasting fish in the world. And even better when caught fresh and fried in butter on a campfire in the morning for breakfast.

Very inspiring for the troubled when they travel through life in need of inspiration.
Incidentally, I'm working on a novel called, The Last Wayfarer. While he is dealing with the psychological effects of being alone, he is also traveling through the landscape of what used to be, the United States of America, but still is, North America.

Much of the United States, in the temperate zone, experiences autumn. I remember autumn vividly from when I lived in those places. I miss it greatly every time I read a poem like this.
