Take A Walk In My Shoes (Book) - 5/8/2012 10:14:56 PM
I'll need to read it after reading your bio. Your life is similar to one of my uncles who went out there (minuss the drugs and jail)but he found it difficult to adjust to a new life.
Take A Walk In My Shoes (Book) - 10/4/2010 9:58:36 AM
I just discovered this book. It has the warm voice of wisdom, and you are so extravagantly generous with that wisdom in your poetry. Wonderful what you have done with your bitter lemons turning them into a rare, sweet soul drink, straw into gold. Blessings, Christine
Take A Walk In My Shoes (Book) - 8/23/2010 3:09:57 PM
This writing says, forgive, forget, and lets become better together. Letting go of the madness focused on imperfections, then moving on to a better life is far more sensible than stirring the mess. Your writing expresses the intention of great acts, and complete recovery. Good luck with your book, Mr. Maclellan. Enjoy creating, always.

Your poem sounds rather mournful, David! More fortunately for me, I stayed with and still love my bride of 44 years. what is saddest of all is that one of us must pass before the other. rege

IN THIS LIFE...WE ALL DO 'THINGS' THAT ARE NOT RIGHT AND THAT WE LIVE TO REGRET AND WE ALL MAKE WRONG DECISIONS BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS...WE ARE HUMAN AND VERY IMPERFECT. THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO TO MAKE AMENDS IS TO SAY, I'M SORRY...AS YOU HAVE DONE. A PUBLIC APOLOGY SHOULD MEAN A LOT BUT STILL... SOME WILL FORGIVE, SOME WON'T, HOWEVER THERE IS NOTHING MORE YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. SO NOW...MOVE ON AND STOP BEATING UP ON YOURSELF. THANKS FOR SHARING. A gem ~ Well now is now, and you are on the right path now with much wisdom gained, so you ought to be considered heroic. "Ma chose my mistake over me" is so sad. The fact that you are sorry is enough to express the beauty in your soul. Christine

A Fateful Decision (Poetry) - 9/14/2010 9:11:39 AM
I will not preach to you, or tell you how to pick yourself up. I can't tell you how to instantly ease this suffering or pretend that I, or anyone else has it "All together". No one can tell you how to fix your heart or your life, the best we can do as fellow humans is say "Yes, I understand and I care." What I can do is tell you I can feel your pain and I'm so sorry you are suffering. And I can tell you that the low places are what forge our metal and shape our character. Hold on to who you have become and in doing so you will find who you are eventually meant to be. A fine and honest poem, deeply touching David.

David ..dear one.. ..we've all been there..I dare to wager that almost every member, on this site alone, has been in writhing pain because of the 'daemons' that berate the unsuspecting 'ego' in us all.. A Fateful Decision (Poetry) - 9/10/2010 12:15:53 AM
Sometimes, it's the way life seems to go, isn't it? But I also think that those "mistakes" aren't really mistakes....they're part of the "walk"...part of what helps us grow and learn. As for looking back....not good to go there, in my opinion...unless it's to learn from a past "mistake." Otherwise, what purpose does it serve?...none...we can't change any of it! Powerful and honest....beautiful work, David.

A Fateful Decision (Poetry) - 9/9/2010 3:40:05 PM
The sheer power and honesty of this confessional unnerves, David, in the best possible way; not only does it challenge me to think about my own deeds but it draws my admiration for its truth. John

You have made me cry with the intense feelings of your lost love. I have loved someone that I had hurt very badly, but that was when I was young and niave. Now I certainly would have done things differently. Live and learn I guess. Your poem hit me. Ciao, Ragno

A Fateful Decision (Poetry) - 9/9/2010 10:10:47 AM
This is such a brilliant poem, so powerful to read. David, here's how I look at it ~ those mistakes we make, those stones to stumble on as we walk our path, I believe are just simply "the way". Ever, Christine

A Fateful Decision (Poetry) - 9/9/2010 7:08:40 AM
David, Look we all make mistakes, and some of us take longer to grow up and see what is really in front of us. Me, I finally saw that my marriage was the reason I was so unhappy...I am free now, and I am so glad to have my life back..I am now the person I always was inside.. You will get through this. I wish you lived closer I would give you a great big hug and some human warmth. Don't lament, you cannot change anything, and personally, one should never go backwards, so march on strong warrior you will be stronger for it all.. Much peace, love and light, Amber

Come in from the cold (Poetry) - 8/29/2010 10:44:07 AM
My, my, this writing's soul lives very much in you, and for you. I see this one as having a life of its own, David. It is very eloquent, but the raw story still survives the eloquence; it reads very well, but maintains the true nature of the events. If I were to speak of good balance, in a writing, for me, this would be a wonderful example. Thanks for sharing your real-life views, David. Very nice expression in this writing.

Long Bay (Poetry) - 8/29/2010 10:30:33 AM
Wow, this one is deeply involved, and gets the attention. It puts me right inside those walls--hoping to get away, too. I think the spacing of the paragraphs is a bit irritating, but may have also caused a certain amount of ease and focus; at any rate, this writing shows that you are sincere and willing to finish your works debts. It shows your commitment to God, too. I am sure He heard you.

The enigma of solitude (Poetry) - 8/29/2010 10:23:27 AM
A very sensible and sensuous writing. A maker of the tears of times passed, and a well baked aroma to savor for the rest to come. This one carries into dream with the real world firmly attached and equally beautiful. Nice work, David.

Mirrors and razors (Poetry) - 8/29/2010 10:14:54 AM
You brought a lot of understanding to everyone's attention who reads this. The parts addressing being caged and controlled by the dealer, the drug, and all of the circumstances, are an honest rendering. I have been around a lot of this, and I have noticed that what you say is absolutely true. Thanks for sharing this, David. Well expressed reality, this one is.

From a grateful grandson (Poetry) - 8/28/2010 6:37:33 PM
Very sweet, moving, and meaningful, David. Thank you for sharing this fine write of gratefulness and respect. Love and peace, Regis

Inevitable (Poetry) - 8/27/2010 7:51:28 PM
A love that causes the bareness of the well protected heart; one that, with all its simpleness, forces complications to become translucent. So, love it is, then; a battle against the lack of knowledge of good things and people--trustworthy people, begins. Building a good trust with her was certainly heroic. Nice piece, and good decision to be part of her life.

Dark Angel (Poetry) - 8/22/2010 2:19:24 PM
I am having a time trying to clarify whether you wrote for the female angel and yourself, alternately; or just for yourself or her, until the ending when it seems clear that only one is speaking. Aside from my not understanding completely, this writing seems very ethereal and spiritually zealous; I feel the desires are not earthly, anymore, and they are menacing because it has not happened that the two of you are ever together long enough to communicate fully. An elusive and re-occurring divide that taunts you whenever. I hope you find the one who gives this aura and presence, and that you will love each other in never ending bliss.

Thoughts from inside (Poetry) - 8/22/2010 1:51:44 PM
I can only imagine what it is like once a person loses his or her freedom; after accepting the fact, I am sure that creativity could go absolutely nuts. Thoughts become too abundant, along with time. I am glad you've come out of incarceration and have your freedom; also, that you don't mind sharing your stories of those times with us. This writing indicates strong unyielding will, and hope. Those are two things that I am always happy with and even obsessed with. Thank you, David.

Unspoken truths are just lies under construction (Poetry) - 8/22/2010 12:32:55 PM
This message is one that I was attempting to address in my poem "Suffering's Daylight". You made a very strict and undeniable present on the subject of being judgmental (prejudice), and active in both. I believe that lies are also born from the fear of being misjudged, and wrongly punished--a catch 22, if you please, but this does not justify the lie. We all must catch ourselves and judge ourselves more harshly; as you mentioned "even if it was only you" who knew that you were telling a lie--someone knew, and it is inescapable. With anything wrongfully done, it is most essential that a person maintain his or her sincere repent, and honestly need for forgiveness and better guidance or enhancement. This writing is like staring at the tip of a dagger that says "tell the truth, or die". Great presentation of thought and directness.

The crimson bottlebrush (Poetry) - 8/17/2010 6:58:30 PM
A nice push to the sensation of our existence and the many values of our surroundings, David. I have noticed that I don't see certain things like I used to; but that has to be because I have not looked with the same eyes that I once had; those things are still there, but I have not been there with them. Thanks, David. I think I will look more carefully around, and re-discover the simple beauties of living.

The crimson bottlebrush (Poetry) - 8/16/2010 4:21:04 PM
You're in touch with what really matters, David, and that's what counts. I love this. John

This is so beautiful and I it makes me so very happy that I can read out of this poem that you are so much more in peace with yourself and the world. I wish you that all of your days will be filled with the small, uplifting things that happen all the time around us, be it in nature or with the people around us. Love Sabine.

The crimson bottlebrush (Poetry) - 8/14/2010 4:22:53 PM
The best part of this poem for me, is that you are finally seeing nature's beauty..That is the Universe giving back to you, embrace Mother Earth's beauty and always remember that there really is no time to squander any longer..Breathe David, and take in the healing energy that I am sending you, now go and forgive yourself and live... Much peace, love and healing light, Amber

The crimson bottlebrush (Poetry) - 8/14/2010 8:51:18 AM
I agree with you, Dave, it seems when we are young, when we could see the best, we didn't see what was right in front of our eyes, we ignored the beauty of Gods Nature...what a waste for us...ed

Unspoken truths are just lies under construction (Poetry) - 8/11/2010 8:17:57 AM
David, you have spoken so many truths about lies..We all do it even if we don't intend on it. By not saying something (omission) that is a lie..so now what if everyone always told the truth? There would be very many sad people, because in order to not hurt people sometimes a white lie helps someone..for instance, when your (girlfriend/wife) asks you if she looks good in what ever outfit she has on, and you think she doesn't, are you really going to tell her the truth and hurt her feelings??????? that's what I mean..sometimes a white lie saves face for the other person..lying for oneself to get by, well that's another story..that's deception and unacceptable.. Wow you got me going on this one..I always knew when my children were lying, sometimes not my ex husband obviously because he is an ex now..lol Good work here, you got the den worked up..lol Peace, love and light, Amber

The title says it all!! I could actually see that in one of those 100 Thoughts About Wisdom books or Quotable Quotes. Something to that effect. Nice work.

David, I like the gradual shift that takes place as the poem progresses; for me, it becomes more meaningful and spiritual with each stanza, and ends wonderfully. John

Unspoken truths are just lies under construction (Poetry) - 8/11/2010 3:50:03 AM
I Love This David! It is hard for some to look into ones own mirror but it is great to do so! I still remember my very first lie! I remember it because it made me feel so incredibly awful. Lies are masterful trickery to steal from another the values of worth that the deceived deserve in their life...which is honesty. It is a horrible truth to feel when someone has lived a lie- when in fact they thought it was the truth... I collect those stones Vickie

Barebones naked pain in lines of loss -- undone. My big, strong Daddy passed away two years ago. I was not at home when it happened, living out of state. Never got the chance to say goodbye, except in words -- this one leaves me totally shattered. So sorry for your loss -- Karla. *teasr*

David, Within this poem, I could feel an uplifting of spirit..You my dear friend, have paid your dues..You must forgive yourself and let all pain live in the past..That is where it all belongs..forgiveness of past inequities, loving oneself, and embracing all that you have at this moment...That is all that matters..You must feel the magic of that love and live each moment that you have left with life full of love, peace, and lightness of being..You deserve this and never forget it.. With faith in your heart you will always pull through your darkest days! The healing might take alittle longer when there is alot inside. A knife wound is easier than the pain of love. Seven years of social death would be difficult for anyone! Hope the wounds of the past are healed soon, and you are no longer on their roll!! Very heartfelt write! Take care, and god bless you always! ~Chessly

When we were kids in the 60s (Poetry) - 8/2/2010 11:24:56 AM
we made dolls from corn cob silk and drank cocoa made from fresh milk made snow sleds from old store signs braved the big hill and had grand times constructed stick castles in the wood listened to Grampa's stories when we could in doll clothes finery we dressed our cats at twilight threw dirt clods at barn bats we swung on a rope tied to an oak tree Mama would have had a heart attack to see The way we flew over that deep ravine you'd think we were dying the way we'd scream Sometimes in summertime we'd sneak and skinny dip like heathens in the creek it was a good time to grow up in remembered now by old women and men. LOVE your poem David, it inspired me!!

Possum, Tom and Bluey (Poetry) - 7/31/2010 3:48:52 PM
I am SO GLAD your possum escaped safely to his tree. Possums are one of my favorite animals. One crossed our driveway once with ten babies clinging to her back. I actually got about a minute on video-camera. Notice I'm choosing your lighter poems to read, building up to one of the serious ones. Connie

When we were kids in the 60s (Poetry) - 7/31/2010 3:44:52 PM
A charming tale, David! How resourceful you were! We waded in the creek by our house and crossed it on stones; it was way too small to sail a canoe, but we cherished it anyway. Connie

Decomposing (Poetry) - 7/31/2010 1:31:59 PM
The signal rest and the ineluctable dissolve into spirit only--leaving behind the affectable matter that records worthless physical pain. A beautiful, undeniable rest--perhaps a sensational negative, but not the negative in itself. A new beginning as the soul picks up and moves on. Grapple onto your freedom when it comes, and share a parting smile.

Cocaine (Poetry) - 7/31/2010 1:07:20 PM
Good to be in freedom to express those troubles. I have to agree that crack is a very evil and addictive drug; I was never addicted, but I have seen so many people who are addicted that I have come to know them very well. They truly have an adjusted belief system, due to their use of crack and its effects. I am sure that you have much more to express regarding the experience and that you have many more foreful expressions to sacrifice to its details. Great writing, and glad that you have pulled yourself above this evil. Keep rising, friend!

The Eyes Have It (Poetry) - 7/31/2010 12:45:29 PM
The rawness of passion's truth. The need to simply indulge the desire and not have weird consequences attached; a love to completeness and ending. Great show of spirited passion, yet, so, with a rawness that feeds a clear understanding.

I have an inexplicable sense of failure, for the loss of this unknown path Even more unsettling is the sense of relief. I find your words particularly thought-inciting, David. I appreciate the philosophy that you have shared via your verses here. Love and peace to you, Regis

Decomposing (Poetry) - 7/28/2010 5:31:52 PM
Great truth in Decomposing, David...the flesh has to rot away before we can find our soul. This poem reminds me of the Hermit tarot card. To withdraw from the company of men and live a life of seclusion and hardship is necessary to find your new skin. It only comes with quiet and solitude. With lantern in hand, seek and ye shall find, David...Light to you...Blessed Be. Love, Sage

Decomposing (Poetry) - 7/28/2010 1:36:46 PM
It is such a surrender isn't it? In some sense anyway... giving up parts of ourself so the core part of ourself we smothered can emerge...and grow & experience life... temptations are hard to resist...unless it burned us deeply...I like easier... but as you say..."it will be the hardest of all" New Clothes & New Shoes for New Dances...Vickie

Decomposing (Poetry) - 7/28/2010 7:15:03 AM
David, Sometimes those unknown paths were never meant to travel..Don't regret anything, you are doing exactly what you are destined to be doing..If that path comes into vision again at a later time, then, that is the time to pursue it...Breathe and know you are where you are suppose to be at this very moment in time... Your poem speaks to me, and we all feel this way at some point in our life. Much peace, love and light, Amber

The Melting Pot of Multi-culture (Poetry) - 7/27/2010 4:08:04 PM
In this are some very definite and necessary issues to consider, as life goes on. One of the issues is color: how does anyone feel so proud of their color that they entertain a hate of any other color of people; when, they, just as the others, never chose who, or what they would be in this life. I could have been them, and they could have been me--we had no choice or decision to fabricate this/our life; it was given to us. Venting ... but, thanks for an eye opener, David. We need it. This is very thoughtful and very well written.
