Thank you for the review, Mr. Hull. The fact that the Academy is vowing to make the makeup of the members more "diverse" is precisely what bothers me. This means they will be looking at skin color along with merits, experience, etc. If a person has better credentials, but their skin is the wrong color, they might be passed over because the Academy is attempting to be more "diverse". Skin color should never come into the equation.

I agree with you on the premise that the Academy must look at quality and not other aspects of a person's contribution to the motion picture arts. By the way, the awards are given to much more than just actors who tend to get most of the credit and/or publicity.
While the president of the Academy is now a woman of color, the makeup of the Academy members is still very skewed and not representative of the world population movies serve. That is what the Academy has now recognized and vowed that it will change.
The idea of separating male and female acting awards, as well as an award for Best Foreign Film are also archaic parts of the awards that need to be changed.

Now that's a horror story that I like. I don't believe in vampires. But cannibalism does exist, as heinous as it is. The details are very good. You have a interesting knowledge of tobaccos. Although I don't believe that priests sit on stools in the confessional… probably benches. The twist in the end was the clincher. And, you left me wondering about Carmen. Probably the man's wife.

It took me a while to catch on for some reason. I thought Elvis for a moment and then dismissed it. I surveyed all the nasty kings like the King of Thailand but couldn't find one that fits the bill, especially in Tennessee.
I like some of Stephen King's work like Misery, very much. And others, that get into too much supernatural unreal. A fellow author here tells me that he hires other authors to write for him using his name.
A true story. When I was in the hospital in 2012, I met a young nurse who said she wanted to write her story. She said she was marrying the grandnephew of Mme. Chiang Kai-shek whose mother was Deborah Paget. After she married Greg Kung, two weeks later, I saw her once at the hospital, still working. Lost touch with her after that, but I hope she writes her story of marrying into Chinese and Hollywood royalty.

I'm with you on Stephen King. Not only is he the master of horror, but he has a natural knack for storytelling by pulling no punches. I love his perverse humor which is prevalent in life.

A wonderful story! Very creative and well-written, with both a twist and a very strong moral. Kudos! Makes me want to read some of your other stories as well.
I know it's published, but it would've been nice if you had somehow come up with a name for the old man. Using "old man" would have become redundant and using "he" sometimes made it difficult to connect who was speaking.

Your story had me on edge right from the beginning with your clever turns of phrase. While I found it far-fetched these punks would know such exact terminology, I willingly suspended by skepticism for the thrill of the ride.
