This book had me from page one. The lead character, Cat, is one sassy female. We enter this story where Cat finds herself in a position to save many lives including her own. Once that is done, her and her mates create a coalition with the armed forces to do battle against all evil, especially the non-human kind. I found the lead to be engaging and unique, strong yet vulnerable. I enjoyed learning about her, her family and friends as the story unfolded. This book has plenty of action and adventure and keeps an engaging pace throughout. I am anxious to read more of this serious and see what other adventures await. Nicely done, Ms. Moon.

An Action-Packed Escapist Adventure
Events have been set in motion that, according to prophecy, will culminate in a series of disasters immense in scope and magnitude by the end of 2012. The cataclysm will have physical as well as metaphysical ramifications as the Earth’s polarity will shift and portals will open into other dimensions. Magick will spew onto Earth. Cat is a Priestess who has come from Trinidad, another world. She is a self-reliant, big-hearted, stubborn leader who radiates sexuality. Her goal as Protector is to try to minimize negative repercussions by negotiating treaties or wiping the floor with those creatures whose only desire to wreak havoc and destruction for their own evil purposes.
As the book opens Cat and her team are on a scouting mission in Japan where unexplained seismic activity had occurred recently. Cat feels a powerful compulsion to step into a portal that is discovered there. The portal feels benign as Cat and a small team step through into a hot dessert-like dimension. Once again, Cat is thrust into deep personal trouble as we are introduced to the three cousins who are the charismatic, powerful, and devilishly handsome leaders of this world. Cat, ever the protector of the innocent, must risk everything, in an attempt to halt an assault by an invading hoard of evil creatures that are slaughtering or capturing huge numbers of people with impunity. The attacks are escalating and Cat must somehow forge new bonds yet still protect her beloved family. Then the unthinkable occurs.
Ms. Moon flits from dimension to dimension in this novel while carefully crafting descriptions of the landscapes and occupants of each so as to pull the reader into the action. For the first time we get a tantalizing glimpse of Trinidad – Cat’s home and haven – a magical, restful planet filled with wondrous creatures including huge fire-breathing dragons and tiny, mischievous pixies. Meanwhile on Earth, the Nightwolves continue to work through differences and meld into a more cohesive whole. All are aware that time is steadily ticking away. New alliances become imperative as Earth teeters on the very edge of the abyss.
This was the second thrilling installment of the Nightwolves series, planned to be a seven book extravaganza of paranormal fantasy and explicit romance that is sure to excite fans. The heat is on! I highly recommend for readers over the age of eighteen who sometimes enjoy a bit of kink and crave intense, high-octane action along the way.

Catrina is a confident, mouthy, strong, sexy female leader who is here on Earth as a protector. The cataclysm will have physical as well as metaphysical ramifications. Cat is a Priestess who has come from another place. For fifteen years she has existed only on the astral plane, cursed by an enemy sent from her evil earthly father. Finally, though, Cat broke the curse and now she is looking forward to spending some quality time with her three husbands – her soul mates. As a reward for the previous service Cat and her husbands were given physical enhancements that give them super physical and psychic abilities almost like those a vampire would possess but without most of the limitations commonly associated with vampires.
Catrina is a passenger on a plane whose destination is New York. Her husbands are eagerly anticipating her arrival. Enroute, the plane is hijacked by terrorists. Cat goes into action…grab your popcorn because you will be biting your nails otherwise. The old saying “No good deed ever goes unpunished” is an apt one as Cat is later detained and interrogated for her actions aboard the jet. Then the story truly unfolds as Cat’s family is introduced and an uneasy alliance with a highly skilled Special Forces Team is established.
The action is intense, choreographed with an eye to detail, and the relationships that emerge as a result of the alliance are complex and interesting. At one point I was brought to tears by a tender moment. A few pages later, I found myself scrambling to cool down by turning on the overhead fans. Clarrissa Moon knows how to write a captivating story that wrings out emotion in a cathartic, fully engrossing way sure to leave the reader gasping before feeling that intense satisfaction of the temporarily sated. The next book is Nightwolves on the Prowl. I am going to grab some more popcorn and discover the new adventures that await in the next installment.

Just put this book down this past week and I was really surprised! It's my first foray into the indie world and I didn't know what I was thinking before in not looking outside the box.
Fast action and a heroine that had motherly instincts and a kick butt attitude. Vampire Sarah Conners anyone?
The world will be ivaded through vortex and portals. Cat has joined with a secret special ops team to fight the few that have already slipped through. Vampires, werewolves and soul mates are the foundation to this series.
I've already recommended the indie world to some of my friends and would have them read this book asap!
I've been reading novels since 1972 or so and I buy many books monthly, sometimes weekly and few hold my attention as well as this one did.
